Plugin throws up a ton of stray code on the backend when confirming

Whenever I change the status from pending to confirmed, the plugin throws up a bunch of code on the page:
SMTP -> get_lines(): $data was ""SMTP -> get_lines(): $str is "220 mx.google.com ESMTP w91sm10735962qge.47 - gsmtp "SMTP -> get_lines(): $data is "220 mx.google.com ESMTP w91sm10735962qge.47 - gsmtp and so on

    Hey taropaa,

    Hope you're doing well today! Looks like you're using a plugin that's changing the default WordPress mailing method to SMTP. Do you mind deactivating that plugin and seeing if it works after that?

    It should still send out mail either way, but let's confirm the conflict first.

    Look forward to your reply here Taropaa!

    Cheers,
    Tyler

    PS. are you able to receive other emails from your WordPress? ie. new user sign up etc.
