Pre setup questions about Multisite

I wondered if you could help. I have two business website that I want to build using Multisite, however I would like to share some, but not all of the content on it. Is that possible?

    Hi Tim,

I hope you’re doing fine today!

By default, sites on multisite are separate in terms of content. There might be a way to make some content “shared”, I believe, but I admit I could use some more information on what exactly would you like to achieve.

Could you please shed some more light on it? Some example “case scenario” would be of great help here

    Looking forward to you response,

Hi Adam, thanks for you response.

Please see attached. One business with two arms that have very similar services but one side needs to specialise in Shopping Centres. The other is the creative arm of the business. The section in gray is shared content. Potentially more if this shared content is possible which would be in relation to case studies.

    Does that help?

    Hi Tim,

I must say that I never worked on such shared multisites but I might have some suggestions for this.

First about the blog, are you going to create Blog posts on both networks and then want to share them on one central blog page, or you will create posts on one network only?

My suggestion for this is to create subsite on one of the networks and then create blog posts on that subsite only but link from other network to that subsite as well.

You may want to map a top level domain so it looks like that the blog is managed on its own.

Similar thing for your Contact Page, create contact page only on one network and then link the other one to that existing contact page.

For the shared sitemap perhaps this could help:

Can you share some more info about how exactly shared “See inside the box”, “Cookie Policy” and “Vacancies” should work?

    Best regards,

Hi Predrag. After reading your response and on reflection I don’t think that multisite is the best solution for this. Two separate sites with a shared blog might be the answer. Thanks for your assistance though.
