Pro Sites: SSL Checkout Warning

Running Pro Sites with PP Pro on WPMS with subdomains.

Here's what happens. The person upgrades and after checkout when getting taken to their site a security warning pops up that the SSL certificate cannot be verified and asks if they want to make an exception. This is because the sub-domain isn't on the SSL cert and it's trying to send to the subdomain securely (why?)

What do we need to do to avoid this?

Thanks!

I installed a wildcard subdomain SSL certificate. My hosting company says each subdomain will need it's own cpanel and IP and they can use the cert. That is not gonna happen.

At the conclusion of the purchase, could we not send the to their site non-secure. No purpose in doing it with https and it just triggers a big, scary warning. I don't know if paypal or pro sites controls that action but it needs to change.

    Thanks

    Greetings troykd

What about the return IPN in set in your PayPal Profile ..... does the return URL include the "s" in http statement i.e. https://youreturndomain.com ~or~ is it just an http:// without the "s"

If the return URL is with the "s" I would suggest removing the "s" and then test that it returns the client now without the security cert warning

    Here's specifics:

After successfully upgrading at PayPal, you are returned to a page on my site. It says "Your PayPal subscription was successful! You should be receiving an email receipt shortly."

Below that is the link that is worded "Visit your newly upgraded site"

That link is HTTPS and it causes the error. It points to the admin login for the upgraded site.

No need for that link to be an https one either. You're just going back to the site you upgraded.

Here's what I want to avoid. My guess is that Pro Sites is generating the link.

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.
We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.
