Problem 400x284 images in WP Smush

WP Smush Pro is not reducing the size of the 400x284 images. Due to that I keep having a score of 23 on the optimize images tab, plus it is showing the same thing in google page insights.

    Hey Brandon,

Hope you're doing well today

Smushing process optimized images but it doesn't resize the thumbnails, they will stay at the size that your theme or plugin defines them.

Google page speed test has two reports for image optimization.

    1. Losslessly compressing - This one's is telling that image can be optimized and that's what smushing does.

    2. Compressing and resizing - This shows that the images are resized via HTML and/or CSS

The second one is what's shown in your results and that's because your theme is loading images larger than it's HTML holder, for example 400x284 thumbnails are loaded in "Fit&Trendy's Premium Brand Showcase" section on your home page but the actual HTML holder of that image is 200x142 so the image is resized to fit in that holder.

Unfortunately this is not something Smush can deal with since the theme code is written in the way to call the larger image, and even though the image is compressed google doesn't like loading image larger than its holder, so this is something you need to check with the theme devs.

Hope this clears things up and let us know if you have any additional questions about this

    Best regards,
    Predrag
