Problem using a .mo file for WPML, twentyeleven and Marketpress

Hello WPMU Team,

I am following the instructions in the WPML menu (Theme and Plugin Localization - towards the bottom there is a link to this page: http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/theme-localization/). I have downloaded the .mo file and placed in the correct directory.

I am translating into German. The de_DE file is found, as is the directory wp-includes/languages. Again on the WPML-Themes and Plugin Localization page, it is complaining "File not found!" under the heading "MO file in /wp-content/themes/twentyeleven". There is however a .POT file in wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/languages/ - should I be expecting a .mo or .po file here?

I am also using Marketpress. Are there already good .mo files for German translation available for Marketpress in the public domain?

Thank you,
Hoss

Hi Hoss and first off, welcome to WPMU DEV!

MarketPress doesn't come included with translations itself but it is fully translatable. In doing a quick search at Google for "marketpress german" I couldn't find any existing German translations posted here. You might be able to refine that search though, to see if anyone's posted one.

As for translating Twenty Eleven, I thought that was included in the standard WP translation packages itself. Have you tried asking about that one over at the WPML forums?

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the following thread may help if you're looking to translate MarketPress.

    Hi David,

I've already searched google, WPMU and WPML forums without luck. I am absolutely new to this game and was hoping there was a community repository somewhere for these files. I'll try posting this on WPML

Btw - what is the relationship between WPMU and WPML? Should I have posted this on WPML in the first place?

    Thank you,
    Hoss

EDIT: Thank you for that link. Looks like I will need to get my hands dirty with poedit...
