Q&A Plugin Questions

1. My theme does not allow me to add page links to the top menu. Can someone give me instructions on how I can create a template for the theme so that this page can have it's own tab on my top menu? http://www.ochrgroup.org/ochr/questions/

2. On my questions page, the right widgets overlap for some reason. See: http://www.ochrgroup.org/ochr/questions/ Would someone give me instructions on how to fix this?

3. I love the simplicity of this plugin, but I'd prefer that the actual question's description show underneath the question's title. Is that possible? Or, can a portion of it be displayed? Similar to how questions are listed on Linkedin groups? Does anyone have instructions on how to make this happen?

Thanks.

    Hiya sinnary,

    Let me see if I can provide some assistance here.

    Can someone give me instructions on how I can create a template for the theme so that this page can have it's own tab on my top menu?

    Ugh. I forget sometimes that default BuddyPress still doesn't have the menu features. This will disappear once BuddyPress 1.3 is released, but until then you'll have to add the custom menu. I've not really looked into this with a BuddyPress default child theme, but there's a great tutorial on how to do it here: http://www.michaelkuhlmann.com/2010/07/08/how-to-add-custom-menus/

    On my questions page, the right widgets overlap for some reason

    Yeah, you'll need to add some custom styling here as well. Open up the style.css file and add the following to the bottom:

    .post-type-archive-question div#sidebar, .ask-question div#sidebar, .single-question div#sidebar {
    	margin-left:	0px;
    }

    That will apply the necessary styling to the q&a pages only.

    I love the simplicity of this plugin, but I'd prefer that the actual question's description show underneath the question's title.

    I'll have to ask the plugin developer about this. I'm sure it's possible, but it will require more in-depth coding - and possibly a custom template. If there's no quick answer you can always ask for an estimate for a fellow member to knock this out for ya:

    Hope this helps! thanks!

    You mean when going to http://yoursite.com/questions/ ?

    You can do that by copying archive-question.php from /plugins/qa/default-templates to /themes/your-theme/ and, after this line:

    <h3><?php the_question_link(); ?></h3>

    add

    <p><?php the_excerpt(); ?></p>
