question about file that defender found

is hosting_provider_filters.php a valid file that should be in the wordpress root? Defender alerted me of it.

    Hello cornelius_butler,

Hope you are doing good today

It does not seems to be a core WordPress file thus does not require to be in the root for WordPress to work.

However, I am assuming, you installed WordPress with automatic installation script of your host that may added this file on your site.

Some hosts does this for compatibility between WordPress and their hosting environment. But don’t just take my words since it could be a serious matter.

For confirmation, please contact your host and ask why it is in your WordPress root and if it is required or not.

If they says, they have intentionally added for compatibility then you can simply ignore this file otherwise delete it.

Take care and have a nice day
