Questions on WPMU Fundraising and creating a "coming soon system"

Hi!

I'm posting these questions together because, considering what I want to achieve, they're directly related.
The fundraising page is here:
https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/blog/fundraisers/fundraising/

1)How do I remove that "None" displayed at the donation panel?

2)Can I cause an issue by changing the slug from /blog/fundraisers/fundraising/ to, let's say, /fundraising? I'm asking mainly due to the paypal IPN.

3)I'm using Ultimate Coming Soon Page. How can I apply a coming soon page to my site while still being able to work on it and test everything? Right now, as I haven't started advertising the website, I simply deactivate the plugin while I'm working, but as I'll launch a fundraising campaign soon, I need to find a way to keep the fundraising page accessible while blocking the access to the rest of the site, but still being able to work on it and test everything. I also thought on redirecting users to the fundraising page whenever theyr try to access other pages in the site, but any ideas that would allow me to achieve what I've described in terms of my goal here are welcome. Does WPMU offers any plugin that can provide me a solution for that? Btw, I'm aware of "sandbox solutions" for wordpress, but as far as I know, all of these options have several limitations in terms of testing the features of a site, and I'm searching for an alternative that doesn't present this sort of issue.

4)Just to confirm: I've set WPMU Fundraising to display a goal of $10K, but with no deadline. That means that every single donation made will be going immediatelly to my paypal account and the money will be available to me, correct?

5)At the end of the text in the usage tab in the plugin's page, it's said: "If you have BuddyPress activated on your site or network, please remember to visit the Pages tab of your BuddyPress settings to assign a page for your Fundraisers.". I went to the buddypress' pages and even though I see a fundraising directory, there isn't a fundraising page listed there to be associated with it. The fundaraising page also isn't listed in the list of pages at wp-admin. What do I do?

6)Isn't there a way to add more payment options to Fundraising? Like credit card and wire transfer, because some people just don't use paypal.

Support access is active. If you need, my credentials were sent like a week ago through WPMU contact form, with Aicee's name at the subject line -the email also contains the login URL of my site.

Thanks.

    Hi @Gabriel! Hope you are doing good today :slight_smile:

    1)How do I remove that "None" displayed at the donation panel?

    Add this code in style.css file of your child theme or using Simple Custom CSS plugin.

    .wdf_reward_item.wdf_reward_item_none {
      display: none;
    }

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/

    2)Can I cause an issue by changing the slug from /blog/fundraisers/fundraising/ to, let's say, /fundraising? I'm asking mainly due to the paypal IPN.
    No it will not affect PayPal IPN. The IPN URL is different then post and can be found in Fundraising > Settings > Payment > PayPal Settings

    I have not used Ultimate Coming soon page but there should be an option to allow admins access the website while blocking for visitors.

    As a page redirect yes you can use a HOOK to redirect to fundraising page until you completed your website. I can write a code for you if you want to go this way.

    No there is no such plugin available.

    4)Just to confirm: I've set WPMU Fundraising to display a goal of $10K, but with no deadline. That means that every single donation made will be going immediatelly to my paypal account and the money will be available to me, correct?

    Yes! It would go immediately in your PayPal account, unless there is no restriction or hold from PayPal (that is rare).

    There should be an option with dropdown to be set as fundraising page (see screenshot).

    6)Isn't there a way to add more payment options to Fundraising? Like credit card and wire transfer, because some people just don't use paypal.

    This could be a nice feature request to be added in future version of this plugin. Create a new thread for this in "Features and Feedback" forum for discussion.

    Take care and have a nice weekend :slight_smile:

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Hi, man! Thanks for answering. :slight_smile:

    I'll be listing the questions in the order they were, the ones I've omitted are already solve.

    2)About the slug, I'm only able to change the last one. My guess is that this page isn't being listed anywhere due to its slug: /blog/fundraisers/fundraising/

    3)Ultimate Coming Soon Page allows me to do what you described, the downside being that I can't get the login and registration pages while I'm logged in as super-admin. You mentioned you can build me a plugin to redirect all pages to the fundraising page, I was wondering if there's a way to somehow "hook" it with Ultimate Coming Soon Page, so users get redirected to the fundraising page, but I, as super-admin, have normal access, so I can keep working on the site without having to open when I'm working there. I've already checked the settings in the plugin, but didn't see any item mentioning the insertion of an URL or anything of the sorts.

    5)About the buddypress issue, the fundraising page isn't being displayed at the dropdown list of pages in buddypress settings, though the fundraising directory is being displayed there, as you can see in this screen shot: http://i.imgur.com/ZijlOKR.png
    Considering that I use buddypress, what issue can be caused by not having the page associated there?

    Thanks again. :slight_smile:

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Regarding the coming soon page and redirecting to the fundraising page, I might have come up with the best soltuion for this (please tell me if you have a better idea): the Ultimate Coming Soon Page is extremely customizable, and the way I've set it up, it doesn't block the login page, just the registration one, so I can still work on the site while the coming soon mode is on. Right now, if you access my home page, you'll see a pretty clumsy, unfinished coming soon page. Here's what I want to do:
    1)Change the font of that text to something that looks "roundy". I also need a cool, round-looking font for the titles and the slogan.

    2)Place my site's logo at the left side. I already know what the logo looks like, just have to "create" it with an image editor.

    3)Place the donation button at the right side of that text.

    4)Place my black footer, the one that displays the copyright, at the coming soon page. The plugin settings offer HTML and CSS panels here: https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=seedprod_coming_soon. I just have to find a way to transfer my site's seals from my blue footer to that black footer, to display the seals with the copyright at the coming soon page. I've already tried transferring the codes for the seals from one footer to the others, and even inserting the codes directly into my child theme's footer.php, but nothing worked.

    Thanks once more, man. :slight_smile:

  • Wheel of Commerce

    @Jude

    Hi, man! Pinging you ont this, as we we've talked about during chat. I'm listing the issues below:

    1)The fundraising page still doesn't allow me to change its slug to simply /fundraising. When I go to my list of pages, there's a page that does display only the /fundraising slug, but it's empty (https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/fundraising/). The real fundraising page is at https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/funder/fundraising/.

    2)You mentioned that in order to make the fundraising page available while Ultimate Coming Soon is active, I have to transfer (or insert a copy, I don't remember) the source code of that page to my root. How exactly do I do that?

    The other issues remain as mentioned in my previous post here, regarding the customization of the coming soon page and such.

    Thanks again, man! :slight_smile:

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Updating with what was discussed during chat with @Michael Bissett

    I've concluded that it's best to use WPMU Membership 2 for this, and build my own coming soon page, that will be the "protected content page" of the plugin -the one that's displayed on the protected pages. The issues are as follows:

    1)In the process of removing CSS and a script at footer.php, to get rid of the seals that were at my blue footer, I must have altered something that refers to the sidebar at the protected content page, because now the sidebar is being displayed at that page again (Michael had it removed from there for me), so I need to get ir removed again -but only from the protected content page, as it will be my "website coming soon page". I also need to get the title and the text being displayed there to be centralized in the page.

    2)How can I allow normal access for logged in users? I'v tried establishing new memberships, but that didn't work. I'm having an issue that makes me unable to log out when I'm using a test account, and I've already set the log out page as having a "guest" membership.

    3)I know this sounds rather vague, but anyway, you'll get the idea: I want to centralize the title of the protected contet page (I've changed its title to Wheel of Commerce, but kept the /protected-content, I'd like to know if I can change the slug too) and change the font of the title and the text, to make it customized; I'm thinking of some round-shaped font.

    4)I need to remove, or hide with CSS, the shoping cart from the protected content page.

    5)I need to display, at the protected content page, a "Donate" button that redirects to the fundraising page. I know that WPMU Fundraising offers me the insertion of shortcodes, but both the Paypal and the custom versions offered redirect the user to a Paypal page instead of the fundraising page.

    6)This was being handled at another thread, but since nobody answers me there since Saturday, I'll post it here:
    I want to display the following seals at my black footer, the one with the copyright. I'd like them to be shown in the following order, aligned to the left:
    a)GoDaddy seal:
    <span id="cdSiteSeal3"><script type="text/javascript" src="//tracedseals.starfieldtech.com/siteseal/get?scriptId=cdSiteSeal3&cdSealType=Seal3&sealId=55e4ye7y7mb7385b34f3e856c879cb735fey7mb7355e4ye77c00a25b7281fac6"></script></span>

    b)SSL seal:
    <span id="siteseal"><script type="text/javascript" src="https://seal.godaddy.com/getSeal?sealID=zbO8FOsG3DrO93LGkkOIn2K9tqYYuMO5x81fymidaRNLuyE7C1v87fU7H4jv"></script></span>

    c)SiteLock seal:
    <img alt="SiteLock" title="SiteLock" src="//shield.sitelock.com/shield/wheelofcommerce.com"/>

    Thanks.

  • Patrick

    Hey there @Gabriel

    I hope you're well today!

    #1: To get rid of the sidebar on your protected-content page, add this to your custom CSS:

    .page-id-393 #sidebar {display:none;}
    .page-id-393 .row-fluid .span8 {width:100%;}

    That'll make it like the screenshot below. Note that if you change that page to a different one, you'll need to edit the number in the body class (.page-id-393) to the ID of the new page.

    #2: With Membership2, you should create a Default Membership that all users get assigned to if they don't have any other membership. For regular logged-in users, you would just need a Standard Membership with access to pretty much all pages, etc, as they usually would on your site. Also, as your login/logout page is an actual page on the front of your site, it should be accessible to all memberships you create, not just the Guest membership.

    #3: To center the heading on just that page & change the font, add this to your CSS and adjust the font-family name to whatever you need:
    .page-id-393 .row-fluid .span8 .page-heading h1 {font-family:Cooper; text-align:center;}

    #4: The shopping cart is in the sidebar and we just hid that. :slight_smile:

    #5: Simply add any button image you like and link it to that page, like so:
    <a href=&quot;http://yoursite.com/fundraising-page&quot;><img src=&quot;http://yoursite.com/path-to-image.png&quot;></a>

    #6: You would want to add those codes to the footer.php file of your child-theme. I presume you are not using the social icons feature in the Pro3 theme. So you can add your codes to replace that call in footer.php. Replace this with your codes:
    <?php mpt_social_icon_section(); ?>

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Hi, man!

    1)If the boxes are presumably centralized, why is the left side wider? Is it because the centralization disregards the presence of the scrolling bar at the right?

    2)I've tried applying different memberships to login and log out, nothing worked, the login page keeps getting blocked.

    3)The title is now centralized, but I've tried a bunch of names for round-shaped family font and none of them works.

    4)The shopping cart is still there.

    5)Didn't work, it's just displaying the code below:
    <a href="https://wheelofcommerce.com/fundraising/fundraising"><img src="https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/donate-button.png"></a>
    Besides, I now can't even see my fundraising page listed in Pages, and it's blocked by Membership 2.

    6)Didn't work. I've also noticed that my black footer looks vertically stretched, in a way that the copyright isn't centralized at the right anymore.

    7)[NEW] I'm seeing this message displayed at my plugins page after I activate Membership 2, what does it mean?
    "Membership 2 is set up for version 1.0.0.7!"

    In case you need, my credentials were sent around one and a half weeks ago with Aicee's name on the email.

    Thanks. :slight_smile:

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Update with what was discussed during chat with Vinod: the issues related to Membership 2 have been solved, as I'm not using the plugin anymore. The other issues remain the same. About the button thing, I've put an image there, but I'd like something that feels like an actual button, if possible, built from that imahe I already have there. Also, you can see at the left of this image that there are two things that seem to be pieces of a bar or something, no idea how it got there.

    Thanks.

  • Sajid

    Hi Gabriel

    Hope you are doing good today :slight_smile:

    The protected content page link is not found to me.

    <a href=&quot;https://wheelofcommerce.com/fundraising/fundraising&quot;><img src=&quot;https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/donate-button.png&quot;></a>
    Add it in text mode of WordPress editor instead of visual.

    Let solve the problem one by one. It will be easy for us to understand the issue exactly if and also some one jumps in so they can suggest a fix or find an answer.

    Thanks for understanding.

    Take care and have a nice day :slight_smile:

    Cheers, Sajid

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Hi, man!

    Like I've mentioned, I'm not using Membership 2 anymore, so all the issues related to it are gone, just the others are left.

    About the button, I've tried that code you posted and it's just returning me a broken image icon that redirects to a 404 page. I've inserted the code mentioned by Patrick, in the text bof at the edit page, replacing the URLs accordingly, but it behaved just an image that redirects to another page when somebody clicks on it, it doesn't have the feel of a button -in other words: it works exactly like the image I already have there. Here's that code again:
    <a href="https://wheelofcommerce.com/fundraising/fundraising"><img src="https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/donate-button.png"></a>
    If applying a "button feeling" to that image is too complicated, then don't worry, it's really not that important, even though it's something I'd like to have.

    Now, there's only the only issues left.

    Thanks again. :slight_smile:

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Okay, to make things easier, here are the issues that are left:
    1)Centralize the title and text boxes at https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/coming-soon-page/. You'll noticed they're not precisely centralized, as the margin is larger at the left side.

    2)Apply a round-shaped font to title and text.

    3)Remove or hide with CSS the shopping cart at the following pages:
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/coming-soon-page/
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/fundraising/fundraising/
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/register
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/login/

    Thanks.

  • Sajid

    Hi @Gabriel

    Hope you are doing good today and thanks for making it easier for me to understand what is left :slight_smile:

    1)Centralize the title and text boxes at https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/coming-soon-page/. You'll noticed they're not precisely centralized, as the margin is larger at the left side.

    Yes! Its seems to be flushed to the right side. Add this code to make the content and title boxes more centre.
    .page-id-393 .row-fluid .span8 { margin: 0px auto !important; }

    2)Apply a round-shaped font to title and text.

    As stated by Patrick. In his above reply. Add below code and adjust the font-family name. If you are not sure then here are some examples of free google Round Shaped fonts, that you can use on your website.
    https://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Nova+Round
    https://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Croissant+One

    .page-id-393 .row-fluid .span8 .page-heading h1 {
    font-family: Cooper;
    text-align:center;
    }

    3)Remove or hide with CSS the shopping cart at the following pages:

    Use below code to hide shopping cart from these pages except register page, it keeps me redirecting to coming soon page. Post the ID of this page here so I can give you code to hide from this page too.

    .page-id-393 #floating-menu, .page-id-324 #floating-menu, .postid-387 #floating-menu
    { display:none; }

    Take care and have a nice day :slight_smile:

    Cheers, Sajid

  • Sajid

    Hi Gabriel! Hope you are doing good today :slight_smile:

    Regarding font. It seems that you did not embedded the fonts correctly.

    Try adding this code to apply font.

    @import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Varela+Round);
    .page-id-393 .row-fluid .span8 .page-heading h1 {
    font-family: 'Varela Round', sans-serif !important;
    }

    If it does not work in custom css then add in style.css file of your theme.

    Take care and have a nice day :slight_smile:

    Cheers, Sajid

  • Sajid

    Hi @Gabriel you are welcome :slight_smile:

    Do you want to use this font site wide ? The code above is only to change the headings font family only.

    I suggest you to use this plugin for google fonts. This plugin has direct integration with WordPress customizer for real time view.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-google-fonts/screenshots/

    Please install this plugin and it should fix your problem without messing with codes :slight_smile:

    Cheers, Sajid

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Okay, that makes thing far easier. I just didn't figure out exactly how to use that plugin, haha. What should I insert there at the CSS selectors in order to change the font at the following pages?
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/coming-soon-page/
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/fundraising/fundraising/

    The CSS selector in the plugin is here: https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=easy-google-fonts&action=edit&control=tt-font-69

    Support access is active, this is the login page (/wp-login.php is blocked): https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/login/

    Thanks.

  • Sajid

    Hi @Gabriel

    Blocking wp-login.php is good security practice but I am afraid, this way I can not login using regular support access.

    I suggest you to send me login details using our private contact form, in following format.

    Subject: "Attn: Sajid Javed"
    -WordPress admin username
    -WordPress admin password
    -login url
    -link back to this thread for reference
    -any other relevant urls

    Select "I have a different question" for your topic - this and the subject line ensure that it gets assigned to me :simple_smile:

    Take care and have a nice day :slight_smile:

    Cheers, Sajid

  • Sajid

    Hi @Gabriel

    Hope you are doing good today :slight_smile:

    Please check now the font family is working fine. I added below CSS selectors in Font Control Name, that you already created (nice).

    .page-id-393 .row-fluid .span8 .page-heading h1
    #post-387 .post-heading h1

    For:
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/coming-soon-page/
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/fundraising/fundraising/

    Before doing this I removed the font family code, for these CSS selectors, from custom CSS box to avoid any conflicts.

    Here is what I got:

    Take care and have a nice day :slight_smile:

    Cheers, Sajid

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Thank you very much, man! :slight_smile:

    Is there any way to make it bigger and apply some sort of "bold effect" on it? Because the way it is right now, that font is looking really skinny, haha.

    Since you're around, I'll post this here:
    For some obscure reason, there's a white line that's randomly being displayed right beneath my black footer at the coming soon page (sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not). It appears to be affecting only that page.
    https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/coming-soon-page/

    Thanks again, I deeply appreciate your help. :slight_smile:

  • Sajid

    Hi @Gabriel

    Is there any way to make it bigger and apply some sort of "bold effect" on it? Because the way it is right now, that font is looking really skinny, haha.
    I can not see this font is coming with different weights. But try adding below code in custom css box from Appearance menu.

    .page-id-393 .row-fluid .span8 .page-heading h1,
    #post-387 .post-heading h1{
    font-weight: bolder !important;
    }

    You can also customize it further your self. Go to https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/coming-soon-page/ or https://www.wheelofcommerce.com/fundraising/fundraising/ page - click on Wheel of Commerce > customize menu on admin bar (screenshot) - now go to Typography > Theme Typography > Varela Round (screenshot) and change style, appearance and position.

    For your other issue. Its because of this iframe.
    <iframe height=&quot;0&quot; width=&quot;0&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; id=&quot;linksalpha_info_loader&quot; src=&quot;//www.linksalpha.com/social/info_3?v=2&link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wheelofcommerce.com%2Ffundraising%2Ffundraising%2F&referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wheelofcommerce.com%2Fcoming-soon-page%2F&title=Fundraising&quot; ></iframe>

    If you know from where its coming you can delete it or deactivate the plugin.

    If you are not sure from where its coming then add below code to remove it.

    #linksalpha_info_loader{
    display: none;
    }

    Take care and have a nice day :slight_smile:

    Cheers, Sajid

  • Wheel of Commerce

    -About the font:
    That CSS didn't work. I'm insering everything on style.css instead of Custom CSS, because I've had some issues with the last not applying the codes to the whole site. Anyway, that shouldn't cause the code not to work.
    The menu method you mentioned is only affecting that title, not the text beneath it.

    -About that white line: I'll try to figure out where that's coming from.

    Thanks.

  • Sajid

    Hi @Gabriel

    I updated the code and its working. I added in custom CSS box. Some times there can be issue due to other CSS or positioning of one CSS above or below other CSS rules.

    Here is the code that I used to make the font bolder.
    .page-id-393 .row-fluid .span8 .page-heading h1, #post-387 .post-heading h1{ font-weight: 800 !important;}

    The menu method you mentioned is only affecting that title, not the text beneath it.

    Do you want to change font-family of content also ?

    Cheers, Sajid

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Thanks, that worked for the titles of both those pages. :slight_smile:

    I'd like to make the font used in the text on both pages bigger and a little bit thicker too -while keeping the font type as Varela Round, of course. Maybe applying a bold effect to it, like you did for the tile, will do the trick.

    Btw, I've said it a few times to some of you guys, but anyway: I deeply appreciate the help here. For somebody who's trying to solve like 30 issues at the moment, including some pretty hairy server and security stuff, you guys are time savers, so thanks again. :slight_smile:

  • Wheel of Commerce

    Thanks for answering. :slight_smile:

    Some minor issues I've noticed:

    1)For some reason that "Make this donation" text at the fundraising page wasn't affected by that CSS. Also, the "Back this project" button near it is unaligned with the box beside it.

    2)Any way to remove/hide that "Posted By wheel of commerce In" that's beneath the "Fundraising" title and centralize the "Fundraising" title in its white box?

    3)Is there a way to make the font in those texts just a bit bigger?

    4)At the coming soon page, you can see that there's a huge empty area across that Paypal clickable image that's also clickable. How can I get only the image itself to be clickable?

    Thanks once more.

  • Sajid

    Hi @Gabriel
