Remove plugin pages & starter theme pages?

Hi Guys,

1. If you install say Classified OR Jobs & Experts, then do not want them anymore. What do you uninstall? The plugin obviously BUT the installed pages remain? Any list of pages per plugin so as to know what to remove?

2. If you install starter ( Child ) theme and do not want it anymore. Whats the best way to remove? The usual way through FTP, delete theme folder ( eg UF-Fixer folder )? Do the pages stay? If so what pages to remove per starter theme?

Just general tips on Cleanup ..

Cheers -- Aidan

    Hi Aidan,

The plugin obviously BUT the installed pages remain? Any list of pages per plugin so as to know what to remove?

I'm afraid, yes. Installed pages remains. This not not Q&A specific behavior, this happens with almost all plugins. Even BuddyPress behaves in the same way. Those pages stays because when a plugin creates those pages, those pages are created as normal WordPress pages. But chances are there that you have modified those pages and added your own content. So if those pages are removed, all your customization will be gone. So those pages are not deleted so if you ever activate that plugin, you can start using that without configuring that again.

However, Q&A doesn't create any page automatically. So there is no page to be removed after deleting Q&A.

The best way of deleting our child themes or any theme is, deleting from Dashboard. Please go to "Dashboard > Appearance > Themes" section, click on "Theme Details" when you mouse over to any theme, and a popup will appear. You will get delete link on the bottom right corner of that popup. Click that delete link and your theme will be deleted. Please check the attached screenshot for reference.

You can also delete the theme folder, that's another way of doing this.

Unfortunately, pages stay for this also. It's also the common behavior for most of the themes, or maybe all themes. However, different themes create different number of pages. And those pages are just like other WordPress pages. So it's not actually possible to say which page was created by theme and which was created manually.

To find out, you can create a fresh WordPress site, install and activate a theme and go to "Dashboard > Pages" section. As this is a fresh site, all pages except "Sample Page" is created by that theme. In this way you can get the list of pages created by the theme you just activated.

Please let us know if you have any confusion. We will be glad to assist further.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

    Hi Rupok,

A belated thanks for reply. All info taken on board.

    One slight adjustment:

This advice is correct EXCEPT the only time you will see DELETE is once the Theme you want to delete is INACTIVE. That is, you need to select another them as active first.

    Hi aidan,

Hope you are doing good today.

This advice is correct EXCEPT the only time you will see DELETE is once the Theme you want to delete is INACTIVE. That is, you need to select another them as active first.

Thank you for sharing your observation, yes, you are right with that, you can only delete themes which are deactivated in the dashboard. Please let us know if you still need any further assistance. Have a nice weekend.

    Kind Regards,
