removing

Hi, I just purchased the google custom search plugin. There was no mention at all that we had to have the update notification plugin as well to get rid of the NAG box. Not only is this invasive but it pretty much borders on spam as well.

How do I get rid of the nag without installing your plugin? I have no intention now or ever of becoming a full member.

Thanks

Vincent

    Greetings VZ :slight_smile:

    just remove the nag box code from the plugin code.

    /* -------------------- Update Notifications Notice -------------------- */
    if ( !function_exists( 'wdp_un_check' ) ) {
      add_action( 'admin_notices', 'wdp_un_check', 5 );
      add_action( 'network_admin_notices', 'wdp_un_check', 5 );
      function wdp_un_check() {
        if ( !class_exists( 'WPMUDEV_Update_Notifications' ) && current_user_can( 'install_plugins' ) )
          echo '<div class="error fade"><p>' . __('Please install the latest version of <a href="https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/update-notifications/" title="Download Now &raquo;">our free Update Notifications plugin</a> which helps you stay up-to-date with the most stable, secure versions of WPMU DEV themes and plugins. <a href="https://premium.wpmudev.org/wpmu-dev/update-notifications-plugin-information/">More information &raquo;</a>', 'wpmudev') . '</a></p></div>';
      }
    }
    /* --------------------------------------------------------------------- */

    Simple as pie

    Hey Vincent.

    The update plugin is designed to let site administrators know about vital updates, to ensure they never miss anything. Especially as WordPress is always changing. If a security issue was ever found and fixed, would you rather not know and leave your site open?

    In recent times we saw an issue with the popular Timtumb which is commonly implemented in many themes and plugins available throughout the whole WP community even from commercial sellers and because of that many sites were hacked as well.

    We just feel it is always important members are aware of all updates to be sure nothing is missed.

    And if you don't want to know, you can simple remove a few lines are suggested kindly by Joe.

    Hope you have a great day! :slight_smile:
