Removing Welcome Message

Hello would it be possible that once a has logged in the Welcome Message Dissapears.

I like it to attract the attention of not logged user, but in my opinion it wastes a lot of screen space one someone has logged in.

Thanks

    Hiya Ontiltsoon,

    First off, welcome to WPMU DEV! :slight_smile:

    Nice idea! This isn’t something the theme can do by default, but I’ll make a recommendation to the theme designer.

    If you’re feeling brave, go to your theme folder and open the following file:

    bp-community/lib/templates/wp-template/call-signup.php

    Open it and replace lines 10-18 with this:

    <div id="intro-text">
    <?php if (!is_user_logged_in() ) { ?>
    <?php
    if($tn_buddycom_call_signup_text == ''){ ?>
    <h2><?php _e('Welcome to the BuddyPress Community Theme', TEMPLATE_DOMAIN); ?></h2>
    <span><?php _e('Simply change this text in your theme options', TEMPLATE_DOMAIN); ?></span>
    <?php } else { ?>
    <?php echo stripslashes($tn_buddycom_call_signup_text); ?>
    <?php } ?>
    <?php } else { ?>
    <h2>LOGGED IN TEXT</h2>
    <span>MORE LOGGED IN TEXT</span>
    <?php } ?>
    </div>

    Notice in the last couple lines the ALL CAPS text. Replace that with whatever you’d like to display when a user is logged in. Save your file and you should be good to go!

    We actually have a quick video tutorial on how to customize content for logged in vs. logged out folks. Take a look here:

    http://buddydress.com/2010/05/logged-in-and-logged-out-content-tutorial/

    And of course, making a change to the parent theme in this way will be removed if you upgrade the theme so document your changes or add it into a child theme. We have a tutorial on this as well:

    http://buddydress.com/2010/05/parent-and-child-themes-explored/

    Hope this helps! Thanks!
