!!! Server error 500 when I enable the Ultimate Facebook plugin !!!

My website is ldccs.com (wordpress multisite)

When ever I enable the Ultimate Facebook Plugin then I get a Server Error. I contacted my host provider and they helped me narrow it down to this plugin being the cause of this.

"Server error

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.ldccs.com/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly."

(see the attached screen capture)

I have used this plugin once before on my kpcproductions.com website and it worked fine. I think this is happening because of something I did before enabling this plugin.

Before installing this plugin then one of the last things I did was remove/delete a plugin called Login Configurator. I am wondering if this Login Configurator plugin is effecting the Ultimate Facebook somehow.

As of right now the only plugins I have enabled are: Domain Mapping plugin, Blog Copier, Members Directory, Styles with Shortcodes for WordPress, Ultimate Branding, User Role Editor, WordPress Chat, WordPress Importer, WPMU DEV Dashboard and WPMU DEV Videos

Also my website has been redirecting people from the front page to the sign up page… (see the second screen capture attachment). I got a notice saying Greetings Site Administrator! You are currently allowing "all" registrations. To change or disable registration go to your Options page.

Right now I am having a hard time configuring the user logins to handle the way I want… What I want is for users to be able to register to a site on my network but not be redirected to the primary site (ldccs.com) is this possible. I am still somewhat new and have a lot to learn about Multisite.

For now I am going to try re-installing the Login Configurator plugin and checking the settings on the plugin to see if this does anything.

    Greetings nathan_collins,

    Welcome to WPMU DEV!

Usually a server error 500 when just simply activating a plugin is an indication of not enough php memory allocated but certainly not always.

Lets start with the basics so I can get a vision of what we are working with.

You have indeed installed a WordPress MultiSite in the root of http://www.ldccs.com?

    Please advise.

    Cheers, Joe

OK, I figured out what it was!!! LOL

Before installing the Ultimate Facebook plugin then I installed "Chat" wpmudev Plugin, and I added the facebook api to the chat plugin.

The thing that broke my site was a radial button in the facebook options for the chat plugin that says "Facebook Connect Used in Site? (e.g. Facebook Ultimate Connect) YES or NO" and I switched it to "yes" I guess that this made the two plugins clash. (see the screen capture)

I think that you guys at the wpmudev need to put a little warning under that option that says "if you switch the option to yes before installing the Ultimate Facebook Plugin then you site will Errom 500"

I am pretty sure the problem is resolved now and I'm surprised I found the solution so fast.

    Greetings nathan_collins,

Thank you for letting us know and for the detailed explanation.

However, I cannot replicate the issue on my production servers and I have set it up as you described.

Therefore I am thinking this issue is possibly caused by one of two things, that the blank space shown before your Facebook credentials is causing this or the memory form your hosting account exceeds its allowable limit causing the error when activated.

With that in mind I have gone ahead and attached my screen shot below showing my Facebook credentials without the space.

    Please advise.

    Cheers, Joe

    Greetings nathan_collins,

Thank you for the input and this is indeed a common issue when copying and pasting using a Windows based computer – which I am guessing caused this – and it also happens that empty spaces are sometimes added to the end of the copy and paste as well.

In any event thank you for letting us know and for being a WPMU DEV Community Member!

    Cheers, Joe
