server error 500 when trying to install your plugins

Hey there

I've been using the free WP Smush for a while, and after a good of nudging, I finally decided to try out the PRO-version (14 days trial-thing).
However every time I try to install it (or any other plugin from the WPMU-pane, I just get a red bar in the top of my screen, saying "server error 500".

I already disabled the free WP Smush (and removed it via FTP).

Any idea what I could do, apart from going back to the free version?

    Hello Peter,
I hope you're having an amazing day and thanks for posting!

The Error 500 is a very general error, and the reasons for its appearance can be related to a vast array of possibilities.

I was able to access your website via the support access you've granted an saw that error message in action. First off, can you please make sure all your plugins and themes are updated to their latest versions?

Next, you might want to test for a plugin/theme conflict here. Could you please try to deactivate all other plugins, revert to a default theme like TwentySeventeeen and test once more?
Here are some detailed steps you can follow described on a flowchart in this article (you may need to scroll the page down a little):
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/using-wpmu-dev/getting-support/

If this does not work, could you please enable WP_DEBUG to see if there's any related errors?
Here's a blog post that describes how to do so:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/debugging-wordpress-how-to-use-wp_debug/
The log will be saved to a debug.log file inside the "/wp-content" folder. Please save the file as a .txt and attach it to your next post.

Let us know how it goes!

    All the best,
    Denitsa
