Setting up MU with sub-domains

When I setup the network I was not asked if I wanted to use sub domain or sub directories?

The text for the wp-config was displayed with subdomain=false and I didn’t see that until later.

Can I edit it to true and use subdomains or do I need to start over?

according to, you will have to start over.

however another member had same issue before when using an auto-installer (tip: always do it manually, the auto installers are useless)

i believe he was able to change his to subdomain, you’ll need to also use the htaccess for subdomains too.

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^wp-admin$ wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
    RewriteRule ^(.*.php)$ $1 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

this i believe will only work providing you haven’t yet created a subsite, i don’t think it will work once you have.

    hope this helps.
