Shipping

We’ve input shipping information in the shipping tab, but it seems to be applying our $9.37 flat rate to all and not grabbing the lower for the smaller items. Is this because we haven’t set up shipping weights in our product listings? Just trying to better understand how the shipping portion works so I can get it all dialed in properly. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hey Dre..

It sounds as though you may be using Weight Rate and in that case the items would need a weight.

If you’re using Table Rate, then it would be based on the price.

Either way…without a weight or price the shipping can’t be calculated with those methods

Hope that answers it for you…drop a note if you need anything…

    Greetings Dre,

Rob has made some good points in his post above with one exception, the consideration that you are using flat rate.

We’ve input shipping information in the shipping tab, but it seems to be applying our $9.37 flat rate to all and not grabbing the lower for the smaller items. Is this because we haven’t set up shipping weights in our product listings?

No this is not relative to setting up the shipping rates for your products. Flat rate is just that, a specific rate regardless of the weight etc. It is a per unit price that remains the same regardless of the quantity purchased or other considerations.

However, Market Press does have different flat rates for different destinations:

Lower 48 States –> shipping you want charged or are charging to all US continental destinations.

Hawaii and Alaska –> shipping you want charged or are charging to Alaska and Hawaii

Canada –> shipping you want charged or are charging to Canada

International –> shipping you want charged or are charging to all other destinations with exception of those mentioned above.

    Hi guys,

So it sounds like flat rate is not what we want, as we need shipping increased based on the items they enter. Do you think the table rate is best for this approach? Right now we use USPS Regional Flat rate, so that’s why we really only have 2 flat rates we use. Is there a link to an in depth breakdown of how each shipping type functions? Not sure I know which one would be best for us.

    Thanks!
