should I turn off plugins?

Does turning off some plugins offer any advantages?
I wonder if turning off plugins I am not using could be beneficial to my site behavior/performance. For example TinyMCE Advanced and Ping Optimizer are not necessary while I am not adding new content.
Thank you,

It all depends on the plugins, how well written they are and what they do (if anything) to increase page load time (i.e. extra syle sheets, scripts and other http requests). When a plugin is added it function more or less like it was part of the theme, the code is executed in the same way so it doesn't necessarily make things slower. It all depends on the plugin. Where possible, opt for better written plugins and plugins that perform multiple functions. The biggest issue with plugins is poorly written code, redundant functionality and conflicts (particularly with JS).
