Site added twice to the Hub

Why when adding sites to The Hub sometimes it's duplicated. One with www prefix and the other without it.

    Hello Jeff,

    Hope you are doing good today. :slight_smile:

    This occurs, when the sites domain name loads in both www, and non www as it's prefix. Suppose you sync a domain name for eg: http://www.abc.com, it'll be listed in the Hub as http://www.abc.com.

    Then access your site via abc.com, the Hub will sync the changes made when logged in as abc.com, and it'll list your site in Hub without www prefix too.

    If you check your mentioned domain names, the site loads in www, and also in non www prefixes. So, most probably the site was somehow accessed without non-www link, and hence got added up twice, you'll have to make sure that either the domain name is added correctly via WP dashboard with www as it's prefix, or use a redirect rule to make sure that the site loads in www.

    It seems like the support access for the mentioned sites isn't enabled, so I wasn't able to look at your sites settings. Since it's a single site, you'll have to make sure that Site URL, and Home URL have the prefix www, under Settings > General of your dashboard.

    For eg:
    https://www.abc.com

    And also, check whether you have any such rules defined in wp-config.php, for eg:

    define('WP_HOME', 'http://example.com');
    define('WP_SITEURL', 'http://example.com');

    If yes, please remove such definitions, as setting up Site URL, and Home URL via dashboard should be more than enough to make sure the site loads up correctly with www as it's prefix.

    Another workaround would be to add redirection rules via .htaccess, so that the sites loads in www, when non www domain name is access, for eg, adding the following

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain.com [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]

    However, you'll have to manually remove the other non www site form your Hub. The above steps will make sure that this doesn't occur again with your site. I'll bring this into our developers attention to see whether there is anything that could be done via Hub.

    If you still have any issues, please send us your sites WP admin, and FTP credentials via our secure contact form, so that we could give a closer look, if needed.

    You can send credentials of both your sites, by using our secure contact form: https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/#i-have-a-different-question
