[SMUSH] CDN ISSUE when active

I prefer not to use Hummingbird, as I have issues. Some content (mainly images), vanished when I activate the plugin. If you have any comment on why that may be happening let me know.

Please check ticket data.

    Hi MARTIN,

    Hope you are doing good today. :slight_smile:

    Sorry to hear about the issue. I'm afraid, we'll need to have access to your WordPress dashboard to have a better idea of what all settings are enabled, and the issue inturns causing due to that.

    In general, it might be due to Asset Optimization enabled in the Hummingbird plugin the images are missing? Do you get any difference if Asset Optimization is disabled?

    Regarding Smush CDN not working for some images mentioned, ie:

    Seems like it's due to Lazyload that's causing the issue, could you please check whether enabling Lazyload feature in Smush Pro Settings helps in this case?

    If you still notice issues regarding this, then please grant support staff access so that we could give a closer look.

    You can grant access from WPMU DEV > Support > Support Access > Grant Access, or check this manual: https://premium.wpmudev.org/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-5

    Please let us know once you enable access so that we could get this sorted. Have a nice day. :slight_smile:

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Nithin, lazyload was acitivated for finders.mx. Do you mean I need to de-activate? I am currently NOT using Hummingbird , as I tried twice to enable and it made my crash or modified my pages, so I prefer to stick only with SMUSH PRO, and in case neeeded I made try another of your's plugin for CDN only if available. I also need some other that scales imagenes,.

    Anyway I already grant access for support to these both sites:

    https://www.finders.mx/ Lazyload Enable
    (same for https://findersrealestate.com/): Lazyload disable (in fact not being show in the plugin, I guess due not being very last version..)

    Be awaiting for WPMUDEV tests and coments. Thanks

    Using a CDN YSlow doesn't recognize? Specify your CDNs in your User Settings.

    For finders.mx according GTM Metrix Report There are 92 static components that are not on CDN, many of those are image.

    Maybe that is not being recognized by GTM Metrix, maybe if you provider CDN hostnames I could check, or else let me know otherway to check.

    Another quetion, I do not complet understood if you recommend to use LAZYLOAD or NOT.

    Hi MARTIN,

    Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, and apologies if I wasn't clear. Thanks for enabling support access, I checked your website and could notice the issues.

    Your website already has lazy load feature enabled other than via Smush LazyLoad settings, so I meant if there is an option to disable the lazyload(maybe it's enabled in the theme side or some other plugin), and only keep Smush Lazyload feature enabled, to see whether it makes any difference, or not.

    I have currently disabled Lazyload feature in Smush at the moment, to see how are images loading via the default lazy load in the website.

    Do you know whether it's a plugin or any specific setting of the theme which is providing the lazy load feature? If it's a plugin, please mention the name, so that we could look further too.

    Smush CDN at the moment will only work for images loaded in the IMG tag, that for example:
    <img src="path-to-image">

    However, in your website, what I could notice is images are loading only via lazyload attribute, ie for example:
    <img data-lazy-load-src="https://www.webisteURL.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/9rZEz4peNbK-01.18.2018_09.15.12-525x350.jpg" />

    I'm afraid, Smush isn't detecting such images, I'm checking this with the developer to see if there is a way to make such images work, will keep you posted regarding this.

    Also, Smush wouldn't be able to move images to CDN, if it's loaded via CSS. Example:

    div{
    background:url(path-to-image);
    }

    Image paths added via CSS is something at the moment, which I'm afraid Smush won't help much in moving to CDN.

    Using a CDN YSlow doesn't recognize? Specify your CDNs in your User Settings. For finders.mx according GTM Metrix Report There are 92 static components that are not on CDN, many of those are image.

    I checked GTmetrix, and the above-mentioned point seems to be the case which is causing such results.

    Will keep you posted once I check further with the developer regarding what could be done in such use case asap. Have a nice day ahead. :slight_smile:

    Hi Martin.,

    I got an update regarding this from the developer, and I'm afraid at the moment there isn't any workaround regarding this in the plugin side, and the images parsed in the above context won't be served via Smush CDN.

    This is more related when custom attributes are used in Lazy Loading. However, our developer is looking to provide support regarding this in a future release, most probably in version 3.2.1, so that such factors could be considered in the plugin side out of the box.

    Nithin
