Smush CDN not working for some images.

The backstory is that last night I noticed that my SSL certificate was expired and I contacted Support.

The rep showed me that my DNS config was incorrect and we fixed it. My domain is now propagated and set as primary, but since then, when I activate Smush CDN, my images don’t load. Background images do load, just not anything in a <img> tag.

    Hello Brad

    I have logged in at your site and then I have enabled the CDN from smush settings. Then I checked your site and I found the images working unless I miss any specific image. So, it seems working now.

    About the no src attribute on image tag, I don’t see the src attribute even when the CDN is turned off, so I don’t think this is related to the smush rather this is a theme issue. Would you please contact the theme author and ask them about this?

    So, original issue, please enable CDN again, check the sites and please share me a screencast of the issue, that will help us to understand the issue better.

    Have a nice day!

    Cheers,

    Ash

    Hi Ash,

    Here's a screenshot of my header with Smush CDN deactivated:

    Here is a screenshot with it activated:

    You can see that the logo image is being resized. This was not occurring before the change to my DNS settings.

    Thanks,

    Brad

    H Brad,

    I gave a closer look at the mentioned logo and could notice what you meant. However, a change in DNS shouldn’t be causing such issue, as there aren’t any factors that would contribute to this in general.

    I could notice when Automatic resize in Smush CDN is enabled, the inline CSS added by the theme for width is 85px, and when automatic resize is disabled the theme automatically switches the width to 300px.

    When I try the following CSS it does make the image display as it should be:

    #top-menu > li.centered-inline-logo-wrap {
    width: 300px !important;
    }

    #logo {
    width: 76%;
    }

    Most probably these anomalies noticed might have caused due to the plugin updates, I have brought this into our developer’s attention, and would like to know whether you are comfortable with us reverting to a previous version of Smush Pro in your system to see how it goes?

    Since staging is in private mode, I’m afraid the Smush CDN won’t work in the staging to test further. Please do let us know whether you think we could further test in the live site if possible.

    Looking forward to your response. Have a nice day ahead.

    Best Regards,

    Nithin

    Nithin,

    Sorry, I’m just getting back to this after a week’s vacation and many other catch-up items. I just implemented your CSS to fix the logo issue, adding a property for the fixed header version. I would like to fix this the proper way though, so yes, please take a look at my live site. Let me know what I need to do.

    Thanks,

    Brad

    Hi Brad,

    Thanks for getting back regarding this, really appreciate. On further troubleshooting, this seems more like a bug which would be addressed in the next release. The next release is given a high priority and should be available asap.

    However, I’m double-checking with the developer with the anomalies noticed on your website to ensure the next release would work fine or not too.

    For now, I have reverted the plugin version to 3.2.1, and the logo does seem to load fine and also removed the above-given CSS.

    Will keep you posted once I get further feedback from the developer for any new updates asap. Have a nice day ahead.

    Kind Regards,

    Nithin

    Hi Brad,

    We had a recent release of Smush which should resolve the anomalies noticed regarding this. Is it okay, if I update the plugin again to the latest release, and then check how it goes? Will revert the version if needed.

    Since it’s a Live site, making sure whether you are comfortable with performing these test before updating the plugin. Looking forward to your response.

    Kind Regards,

    Nithin

    Hi Brad,

    Thanks for getting back. I tested further but I’m afraid the plugin update didn’t help much. I have reverted the plugin version back to v 3.2.1.

    I’m bringing this into our developer’s attention regarding the test done and will get back to you once we get further updates regarding this asap.

    Kind Regards,

    Nithin

    Hi Brad,

    Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. On further checking, we would like to test the latest beta version 3.3 on your staging website.

    The staging homepage at the moment doesn’t look exactly like the live site, is it okay, if I reset the staging so that we could further test the beta version?

    Just double-checking in case there aren’t any important changes done in staging website so it doesn’t get overridden once the staging is reset. Please let us know whether you are comfortable with us making the changes in staging website so that we could check further.

    Regards,

    Nithin
