[Smush Pro] [Smush Pro] Webp CDN – Slows down site to > 120s

I've noticed that my site slowed down to above 120s for the past couple of days when I had Smush CDN turn on (for webp images) on both front-end and in wp-admin.

Turning Smush CDN off on my back-end made the speed normal again.

Any idea how do I solve this while allowing the site to serve webp images to users who have compatible browsers?

    Hello Daniel,

    how are you doing today?

I tried to duplicate the issue by activating Smush Pro CDN and WebP conversion on my test site. I didn’t find any slow load times on my test site.

This is a strange issue and it might be because of some plugin conflict. To further investigate this issue I would request you to grant support staff access so I can take a closer look. You can grant access from WPMU DEV > Support > Support Access > Grant Access, or check this manual: https://premium.wpmudev.org/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-5

To investigate the issue I have to activate the Smush Pro CDN again which might slow the site speed. If this is a live website with traffic, I’d rather advise to create a staging environment, meaning a complete and exact copy of this installation into another location/folder in the same server, using a separate database, and perform the test in there instead without worrying about the live site.

Please let us know when you are done granting support access.

    Kind regards,

    Hello Daniel.

By any chance would you happen to know if there are CDN location in Singapore for SmushCDN?

Yes, We do have a CDN location in Singapore

    https://www.stackpath.com/platform/network/

All the locations mentioned in the above link are used by our CDN network. Your website files are cached on all of these locations and depending on your visitor files are served from the nearest CDN server location.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

    Kind regards,
