Snapshot & GoDaddy

I am trying to move the design and content (which I'll delete) from one website http://501partners.com to a new one http://www.humancenteredapps.com/, as they will be sister sites. The old site is hosted on Rackspace, but the new site, they have insisted is hosted on GoDaddy - and I'm wondering if that's the problem.

I was able to import the snapshot onto the new site, but when I go to restore it seems to get stuck and timeout. I first tried it with a Snapshot that included media, and that wouldn't even import, the the new one was much smaller and did import - but go stuck on Restore. In the attachment, you can see that it even started importing before the page seemed to have timed out.
Any suggestions?

    Hello Caroline,

    Thank you for your question.

It sounds as though your restore is timing out due to a stricter PHP configuration.

Is the site you are moving a large site (a large number of posts and/or media)?
Is the GoDaddy account you're moving to a shared hosting account?
Does your GoDaddy account allow you to modify your PHP configuration?

If GoDaddy allows you to modify your PHP configuration, you may want to increase the following:

    memory_limit
    max_execution_time

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I'll be happy to help!

    Best regards,

    James Morris

Hey Caroline, hope you don't mind me following up here. In-case you're unsure how to up those limits then we got you covered with this guide: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/increase-memory-limit/

As James alluded too, your host might not allow it so if you try the methods in that post and it doesn't change anything then contact GoDaddy and they may be willing to do it from their end

Also, one more quick note - Snapshot migration is still currently in beta, you likely saw it say this right before restoring to a new domain. So just make sure you keep the full backup until you are sure everything is as it should be on the new domain.

    Have a great weekend. Cheers!
