So, I have an issue.

I have a multi-site running where I allow users to sign up new accounts and get a subdomain e.g.subdomain.example.com

We would like to be able for users to map their own domains owndomain.com to HTTPS://owndomain.example.com, but still remaining as a secure SSL connection.

How can i achieve this via the domain mapping plugin? Would love to have some pointers or clues on this before we invest in a wild card SSL certifcate (Gosh, it costs a bomb)

Hope to hear from the community soon!

    Hey there Buooy,

Thanks for posting on the forums.

Domain mapping does not support https:// mapping it just does the mapping and if you have an SSL, its applied on your entire network and not your Mapped domains.

Domain mapping and SSL are generally incompatible. If all your domains will be mapped, then you could probably use a UCC certificate. They are expensive though and have a limit of 100 domains.

Cheapest wildcard or SAN certificates I've seen are here: https://www.startssl.com

The same issue was discussed here with our Lead developer : https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/adding-ssl-certificates-with-domain-mapping

I will request you to go through that thread so that it gives you an idea about the same.

I hope that helps. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions on the same.

    Cheers, PC
