I found an error when buying a domain. It seems I need a SSL/TLS certificate for current domain (i.e. to have a possibility to buy new one. The Domain Mapping plugin redirects user to – to enter credit card credentials. So the browser issues ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID error.

    Hi Mirek,

Hope you are doing good today

If you are using credit card processing for payments then you must have SSL/TLS enabled on your website as described in our project page usage guide.

When it comes to choosing SSL for your site their different types and aspects your should care about before buying one of them. Luckily we have a really great article on our blog where the author explained SSL certificates for your site.

Take care and have a nice day

    Kind Regards,

I had the same issue. Fortunately my hosting provider offers freeSSL, just one click in the cPanel activated SSL and then i was able to open the purchase domain – using eNom gateway. (My hosting provider is It’s not necessary to run a ssl certificate from symantec (expensive, around 800$ per year), the freeSSL is working as well. Maybe your histing provider offers something similar?

As an alternative, my expirience is that you may use the domain mapping plugin together with ProSite and if you have a paypal payment gateway configured in pro site, the domain mapping plugin offers to use the prosite payment gateway. This works without having a SSL certificate installed on your website.

If course only applicable uf you are using pro sites anyway, but it’s a common used plugin and i just wanted to let you know, maybe this could be a possible workaround for you in case you had prosite already installed and no ssl certificate available.

    Kind regards
