SSL on subdirectory multisite with Domain Mapping plugin

I have 9 subsites set up on my multisite, and I'm trying to get SSL working for each site. Each subsite is setup as a subdirectory, e.g. site.com/subsite, and mapped to a domain, e.g. subsite.com, using the Domain Mapping plugin. Before the subsites are mapped, SSL/https works. After the subsites are mapped, SSL/https does not work and I get a security warning in my browser. How do I make this work? Thanks!

    Hello Chris Rennie

Before the subsites are mapped, SSL/https works. After the subsites are mapped, SSL/https does not work and I get a security warning in my browser.

Do you mean, after mapping a domain, the subsite URL gets warning or mapped domain gets warning?

If it's subsite URL gets warning, then this is unusual. There must be some configuration issue, you may need to talk to your host.

If mapped domain gets warning, then would you please make sure that you have multi domains SSL certificate? To use SSL for multiple domains from same server you must need multi domains SSL certificate. Please let us know about that.

    Hello Chris Rennie

The above quoted line means, if you have a network, say network.com, and installed as subdirectory multisite, then one SSL will cover all the subsites like network.com/site1, network.com/site2 and so on. This SSL certificate is for network.com domain.

When you add a mapped domain, that's a different domain and the certificate for network.com would not work for this separate domain. You either need to install another certificate or a multi domain SSL certificate to cover all domains with one certificate.

Hope it helps! Please feel free to ask more questions if you have any.

    Have a nice day!

    Cheers,
    Ash
