SSL with Lets Encrypt (DirectAdmin)

Hi,

I want to have SSL on my subsites real domains and I got this to work with Cloudflare free SSL but now I want to try my hosting providers Lets Encrypt.

I have set up the site and a SSL to that site and I have mapped the domain in my multisite network so when I go to site I want to come to my ready homepage but insteed I come to the servers example files. How to fix this?

archpel –> multisite

Without mapping: varmepumpstockholm1.archipel.nu

http://xn--vrmepumparistockholm-bzb.nu/ <– My site mapped but come to wrong palce

I grated access

    Hey Viktor,

    Happy to help with this!

It does look like your IP is dedicated and pointed to the right location, but looks like your primary site is forced to https and doesn’t have a valid SSL cert yet? I’m getting a connection not secure error when trying to visit the IP address directly.

If you try stop forcing your primary site to https so that error doesn’t happen, then does it direct properly?

and just to clarify, you understand that this domain: xn--vrmepumparistockholm-bzb.nu = värmepumparistockholm.nu

It is just the punycode domain since it has special characters in it. I wasn’t sure if that is part of your question or not, I’m thinking you probably already knew that though

    Look forward to hearing back!

    Cheers,

    Tyler

I go with Cloudflare on this because cant get Lets Encrypt to work. I dont want cert for the multisite root. I want to put SSL on the subsite that I have build in the multisite network.

Does this not work with Lets Encrypt?

    Hey Viktor,

it really should work with Let’s Encrypt, but before you jump in into getting SSL on your new domain you should double check if the mapping actually works without SSL as Tyler mentioned in his reply.

With regards to adding Let’s Encrypt to mapped domain in your multisite I’ve found this thread https://discourse.roots.io/t/lets-encrypt-issue-when-adding-new-domain-to-multisite/7021/4

    Hope this helps

Ok it works without SSL and this link not help, im on Direct admin.

Your CO-worker write this in the comments on a SSL post

    POST here

If you want to protect multiple, different domains, then this is where things get a bit trickier because you would need a separate IP address for each of them, which I don’t think would work with your current setup (if I understand it correctly). In this case, you would need to look into your server and if it supports SNI (Server name indication) so you would only need one IP address.

But how to fix this SNI?

    Hey Viktor,

Sorry I’m a bit confused. So you only want to have an SSL on one subsite or on several subsites?

If you want all your subsites to be SSL verified then you will want to get a Wildcard SSL Cert.

If you want just one to be SSL verified then you could just use a basic SSL cert since you don’t need one for your main domain.

However, in the case you want to use multiple basic SSL’s for different subsites on your network then yes you would need to look into SNI or a Multi-Domain Certificate.

As far as SNI goes, contact your host and ask them about it, the system admins there will be able to tell if your hosting will support it or not

Let me know if I misunderstood you there.

    Cheers,

    Tyler
