Changing from e-mail address in Support System

I have problems with support email and changing the default email of the website to support@domain.com (I don't receive the confirmation link at support@domain.com though if I change to me@hotmail.com or other non domain address it works.

The mass mailer will send email from the support address

I added the line of code as suggested in this thread

and now I get the error message

Cannot connect to Gmail: Too many login failures

(My domain is set up to use Gmail.)

Does this error suggest I should wait a while before trying again?

    This suggests that the connection details you've provided for Gmail are incorrect - try re-adding the username and password and see if that works.

    Check that the username and passwords works when accessing GMail from a browser, too.

    Thanks for your help.

    I have a domain registered at one company, a vps at another, use googles servers for mail and the wp software as well. Basically had to get the settings correct in four different places and I eventually managed it. Feels like good cause for celebration this weekend after all the troubleshooting I went through - I think the problem was on the vps though I have changed that many settings that many times I am no longer sure. It works anyway so happy days!
