Switching from WP Smush Pro to WP Smush and the Benefits of Each Plugin

We were using WP Smush Pro for a short period of time while we were waiting for you all to release the updated free version of WP Smush. We’ve smushed about half of the images in our media library (about 3,000) - if we switch back to the free version and cancel our subscription to WP Smush Pro, we will have to resmush those images? We will be able to both bulk smush and smush individually?

Also, what is the main difference between the free version and the pro version?

Thank you!

Hey @Deborah Boland, hope you're doing well today!

if we switch back to the free version and cancel our subscription to WP Smush Pro, we will have to resmush those images?

From my own testing, you shouldn't lose any of the images you've smushed upon un-installation.

We will be able to both bulk smush and smush individually?

Yep, you'll be able to do bulk & single smushes in the free version. To answer this question though:

Also, what is the main difference between the free version and the pro version?

There's a few, actually. To quote the WP Smush plugin page (discussing the benefits of the Pro edition):

    - "Super-Smush" your images with our intelligent multi-pass lossy compression. Get over 2x more compression than lossless with almost no noticeable quality loss!
    - Get even better lossless compression. We try multiple methods to squeeze every last byte out of your images.
    - Smush images up to 8MB (WP Smush is limited to 1MB)
    - Bulk smush ALL your images with one click! No more rate limiting.
    - Keep a backup of your original un-smushed images in case you want to restore later.

I personally like the ability to do a bulk smush of images all in one click, no more having to first send off the images for smushing, and then having to go and retrieve the images in another step.

    Hope this helps!

    Kind Regards,
    Michael
