Is it just me, or is it really hard to manipulate the information found/created in Buddypress’s extended profiles? As far as I can tell, the only way to use them is to spit all of them out as a list. But, what if you want to single out pieces of information to treat them in different ways?
I started playing with the Buddypress profile for blogs widget (http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-profile-for-blogs-widget/), and I ended up having to create a whole bunch of if/else statements to single out the fields in order to format them to my liking.
My dev skills are pretty limited, but I worked on this with a friend who’s got mad skills – tho he isn’t a WP/BP user/dev – and his remark was that the extended profile code wasn’t really written to be extensible. Does this ring true to you?
Not complaining, just curious and interested in hearing your opinions, ideas, experiences on the subject!
PS: my first BP project is coming along smashingly, can’t wait to share with you guys!
