trying to add a site in multisite

Hi,

I’m in http://otmamto.com/wpmu/wp-admin/network/site-new.php , trying to add a new site but am being rejected, “Missing or invalid site address”.

it didn’t accept letsnail.com

My multisite sits http://otmamto.com/wpmu/ , is it possible when the multisite is in a folder (eg. wpmu and not root) that it doesn’t ?

leaving the .com “off” just places an ordinary folder “after” my existing URL – that’s not another site?

    eg. http://otmamto.com/wpmu/letsnail/

“letsnail” is a folder not a site? letsnail.com is a site.

well I thought another site would be another domain but I guess it would be called multi-domain, nonetheless, multiple sites aren’t exactly multi-folders either.

So I gather the new folder which is placed after my root address is potentially a whole site? but the address is not a whole new site, so it’s a subdomain-site or something?

Hence multisite has nothing to do with adding another “domain” so the “big news” is, I (disappointingly) cannot control multi–domains within one interface?

    oops!

Hence, my original site address should be “root” like otmamto.com instead of otmamto.com/folder/ so that when I add a “site” it will be a neater address.

Now that we’ve worked that out ,, do I have to redirect letsnail.com to resolve to otmamto.com/letsnail/ or even letsnail.otmamto.com ?

or I shall abandon the idea of using multi site ?

    Thanks!
