Trying to remove site from multisite, domain mapping won't let go

I had a domain divinginflorida.com mapped to my multisite install. Due to some technical needs, I now want to pull it off and do a standalone install.

I deleted the map and created the account for divinginflorida.com in my cPanel.

But when I go to divinginflorida.com, it takes me to the new blog sign up page on my multisite install.

I'm sure I'm just missing something basic/stupid, I just can't figure out what. Any suggestions?

    Hey there, nobostic!

Any chance you're pointing the DNS info for divingflorida.com to the IP address for your multisite? Did you make any changes to your DNS records when you created the mapped domain?

Regardless, can you share the contents of your .htaccess file here? There may be something in there we can remove to point divingflorida.com back to where it needs to point.

    Thanks!

I am in fact pointing the DNS info for divinginflorida.com to the IP address for my multisite. I have a few other domains setup the same way without a problem, so figured it should work with one more domain. I don't recall making any DNS record changes when I originally mapped the domain beyond changing the A record to point at my server IP.

    Here's my .htaccess file:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$1 [L]

    RewriteRule ^(.*/)?sitemap.xml wp-content/sitemap.php [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

    # END WordPress
