Turn on/off button are not working for moderator(s)

Although the buttons appear for the moderator to turn on the chat, they can't be selected (i.e., are non-responsive).

Also, is there some system to leave a message or let the moderator know that people attempted to chat when chat was unavailable?

    Greetings anne.smith@mnea.org,

Sorry to see that you are having so many issues but after figuring out what you site was and visiting checking for errors, it is no surprise that you are having issues considering the amount of errors that are being thrown by the site as shown in my screen shot below which among other things includes deprecated could and JavaScript issues. Firefox or Chrome control+shift+J

Therefore it is time to go into full blown trouble shooting mode because it appears there may be some conflict there and one way to find out conclusively.

Standard plugin trouble shooting protocol - first to switch to the Twenty Eleven theme just long enough to check for the problem - if the problem still exists next involves deactivating all plugins except the plugin in question and then see if the issue still exists.

If it does not, then you want to activate plugins one at a time testing in between to see if the issue returns. Even when you find one plugin, it may be in your interest to deactivate the problem plugin and continue testing the rest of the plugins to insure no others are also conflicting.

You will know the conflict when the issue returns and which plugin(s) you activated that cause the issue.

Please advise if there are any plugin conflicts and if so what the plugins are that are conflicting.

    Cheers, Joe

No. That is the whole point of the moderator ability to close the chat. We use this same chat plugin on our own site to manage the Live Support group sessions. When we are not hosting the chat we keep it closed to prevent users from posting random question in the off hours and getting upset because someone was not online to answer their questions.

As Joe mentioned you have some JS errors which is preventing the chat plugin (which is mostly JS/AJAX from functionality.
