Twitter Integration - Main Page

http://www.faridsabetmd.com/

Is it possible to replace one of the two sections at the bottom of the page that currently say "Latest News" with a twitter feed?

If so, how could this be accomplished?

    Hey Ryan, thanks for getting in touch.

    That certainly is possible but its not a case of changing settings. You need to code something to pull that twitter feed for you. It might be just as easy for you to create a widget area and then put a Twitter widget there.

    You will find this useful:

    https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1/get/statuses/user_timeline

    How are you with code, would you feel comfortable making changes and edits to PHP?

    If not then you would need to consider hiring developer to do that for you. Its not overly complicated so shouldn't take long to do for a developer.

    Take care.

    Thanks so much for the help. I have some additional questions:

    1 - How do I create a widget area?
    2 - How do I keep the modified code from being overwritten when a new update comes out for the template?

    I am not great with code but can follow directions.

    2 - How do I keep the modified code from being overwritten when a new update comes out for the template?

    You can create a child theme for that.

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/the-buddypress-manual/what-are-parent-and-child-themes/

    1 - How do I create a widget area?

    Open the themes function.php file and add:

    if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') ) {
    register_sidebar(array(
    		'name'=> 'ryangambrill Widget',
    		'id' => 'ryangambrill_wigetarea',
    		'before_widget' => '<li class="ryangambrill_widgetarea">',
    		'after_widget' => '</li>',
    		'before_title' => '<h2 class="ryangambrill_widgetarea_title">',
    		'after_title' => '</h2>',
    	));
    }

    Then where you want the widget:

    <?php if (!function_exists('dynamic_sidebar') || !dynamic_sidebar('ryangambrill Widget')) : ?>
    echo "<!-- Anything it should do when no widgets are added -->";
    <?php endif; ?>

    Always best as a child theme.
    When done it would look like the Child theme attached. :wink:

    (upload and activate - Might need some styling)

    Take care.
