Twitter link thumbnails not showing since SmartCrawl installed

Hello,

Since I installed SmartCrawl, links that I post on twitter do not have a thumbnail with them and they instead just show as the URLs. http://www.twitter.com/legalloopUK - you can see our recent tweets are not displaying thumbnails.

Now even when I disable SmartCrawl the images will no longer show up. I'm no expert but it seems as though the plugin has altered some files and now twitter can't fetch the images.

    Hi Aaron,

So sorry to hear the inconvenience you are having. I went to your twitter profile and found that there are three tweets in last hour and all of those have thumbnail images posted. Please check the attached screenshot for reference.

    Am I missing anything here?

Can you please tell us when did you disabled SmartCrawl?

Moreover, can you try setting up Twitter Cards manually on your site and check what happens with SmartCrawl? http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-twitter-cards-in-wordpress/

You can also use a plugin for this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jm-twitter-cards/screenshots/

Most probably your theme has this ready and SmartCrawl was probably conflicting with something. But as I don't have any access to your theme, I could not test this.

Using the plugin I mentioned above will increase the chance of your Twitter meta cards not breaking even when you change your WordPress theme.

Please let us know what you think about this and the result of your test. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and resolving this issue as soon as possible.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

    Hi Rupok,

Thanks for your swift reply. If you go back a bit further you will see some that did not post with thumbnails. It seems to be a little tetchy and work some times but not work at other times... I am using Hootsuite to schedule tweets, I wonder if this may be something to do with it?

I installed the plugin you recommended and tweeted and it worked just fine (although I set it to post as a large image above the description and it only posted as a small one).

    Cheers

    Hi Aaron,

Hope you are doing good today.

I could see the tweets without thumbnails. Did you use Hootsuite after you have installed the JM Twitter Cards? Are you able to replicate this issue again with scheduled tweets?

I installed the plugin you recommended and tweeted and it worked just fine (although I set it to post as a large image above the description and it only posted as a small one).

Glad to know it's working, regarding the large image not being posted, this might be a conflict, if you are still able to replicate, would recommend you to run a plugin conflict test, and see how that goes, when new tweets are posted. Running conflict test might not be ideal since the only way to test this would be tweet new post, maybe getting in touch with the plugin developer might be the easiest solution, as he would be able to help you figure this out.

You can check the following link on how to run a plugin conflict test:
