Trying to add css to ultimate branding getting error that special characters must be escaped. What is the proper way to escape special characters.

#adminmenu li.menu-top:hover, #adminmenu li.opensub > a.menu-top, #adminmenu li > a.menu-top:focus {

position: relative;

background-color: #191e23;

color: #00b9eb;

background-image: linear-gradient(225deg,#f92c8b 0%,#b02cd6 100%)!important;

    Hello Bryant

    It seems Ultimate Branding is not recognizing the ‘>’ CSS pattern for some reason and throwing the error.

    I have reported that to our developers to get more details and address the issue. But in the meantime, could you provide us with all the specific elements you’re trying to style from the back-end and will provide you some workaround for that?

    Regards,

    Hi Bryant,

    As reported, this seems to be a more of a bug with how the CSS editors currently renders the “>” symbol. Our developer is currently working on a fix regarding this, in the mean time, you can use the following code as a workaround to apply such CSS in the dashboard side:

    <?php

    function wpmu_admin_inline_css(){
    ?>
    <style>

    #adminmenu li.menu-top:hover, #adminmenu li.opensub > a.menu-top, #adminmenu li > a.menu-top:focus {
    position: relative;
    background-color: #191e23;
    color: #00b9eb;
    background-image: linear-gradient(225deg,#f92c8b 0%,#b02cd6 100%)!important;
    }

    </style>

    <?php
    }
    add_action( 'aadmin_print_styles', 'wpmu_admin_inline_css' );

    You can implement the code as a mu-plugins, as mentioned in the following manual:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/wpmu-manual-2/using-mu-plugins/
