Ultimate Facebook plugin shortcode usage failure

Hi,

For the [Ultimate Facebook] plugin usage, a bug is experienced as the [Like button] shortcode does result in the shortcode displayed as text phrase [wdfb_like_button] and no button.

See this deals page http://www.minedeals.com/deals/dekktrykkmaler as an example.

The backend settings are set up that means within the [Ultimate Facebook settings] and the [Facebook Like/Send Button] section, the Facebook Like Button is allowed, the button position is set to manual and the button appearance is also set.

When button position is set to other than manual, the button appears, but then the button appears also on various random places like the login page as an example, and that becomes complete stupid.

Is this [Ultimate Facebook] plugin a beta version not complete tested before published?

Best regards,
Jan Kaare

    Hi,

    I now find the missing Like button to result from the shortcode placement.

    When the login page Facebook connect shortcode is replaced by this Like button shortcode, the Like button comes up.

    Do you have some documentation about the rules for where the shortcode can be inserted for the Like button to operate?

    Best regards,
    Jan Kaare

    Hi,

    From various internet searches I have found various articles about the shortcode usage in general and the do_shortcode usage.

    This support ticket can now be closed accordingly as that do_shortcode usage did fix it.

    For the Like button to be placed within a div, and the login page as an example, this works:

    <div>
    [wdfb_like_button]
    </div>

    For the deals page however, the same doesn,t work, and the shortcode comes up in plain text [wdfb_like_button] in browser. For this deals page, what works is this:

    <div>
    <?php echo do_shortcode('[wdfb_like_button]');?>
    </div>

    What is the reason why that do_shortcode usage is not required on all pages? Or should it always be used anyway?

    Best regards,
    Jan Kaare

    Hi there @Jan Kaare Stoelsvik,

    Hope you're well today and thanks for the update.

    Normally the standard shortcode works, but on certain themes and this is highly theme dependent, only the actual text of the shortcode is output like it was for you.

    When this happens, this normally means you'll need to execute the shortcode using the do_shortcode function in your template, such as page.php or similar, or header.php even for example.

    It's also possible, that a plugin is causing the issue with the execution of shortcodes.

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards
    Jack.
