upfront, spirit, customize widget menu

I am not sure this upfront is going to work for me - I just recently joined and
I can't even figure out where the CSS for the widget dropin menu is - can't find an answer in support, I did look, searched, but seems to me this should be in the documentation - I read the five panels of documentation - is that all there is?
I also don't know how to add in a panel, when I deleted all the panels except for the header and footer.
How do I set up a master template for the site, with the sidebar on the inside pages and not on the front.
Is it compatible with WooCommerce or I have to use wpmudev's ecommerce?

Very frustrated.

    Hi @Coleen Fryer,

    I hope you having a good day.. ( Except this issue  )

    Welcome to Wpmudev.

I can't even figure out where the CSS for the widget dropin menu is

Let me first tell you from where css of widget dropin menu is being loaded in upfront. Actually it is loaded from file named editor-interface.css. File path of that file is /wp-content/themes/upfront/styles/editor-interface.css.

If you want to write css for widget dropin menu its not good idea of writing css directly into the upfront core files. Rather I would suggest you to create plugin for custom css and then inject that file for upfront.

You can add the CSS file of plugin by using the following hooks.

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API/Action_Reference/admin_enqueue_scripts
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API/Action_Reference/wp_head

You can use the above code by using it in the following plugins or developing small plugin as described in this blog post https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/wordpress-plugin-development-guide/

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/add-actions-and-filters/
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets/

I also don't know how to add in a panel, when I deleted all the panels except for the header and footer.

You can create new page from existing template to get panels supported by selected template. by default there isn't any mechanism of creating panels. But I will notify about this to developer. Meanwhile if you think this should be feature supported by upfront please issue a new thread in features/feedback category.

I wonder this plugin could help you for template creation. https://github.com/GuerrillaCoder/Upfront-Template-Builder.

After creating template you can create new pages which derives your created template easily. I've attached screenshot explaining how you can achieve this.

How do I set up a master template for the site, with the sidebar on the inside pages and not on the front.

I am sorry but this isn't very clear to me. Would you pleas add little bit more info ? What I understood is that you want to create page which derives from master template with sidebar but that should not be displayed on front end. Is this you are trying ?

Is it compatible with WooCommerce or I have to use wpmudev's ecommerce?

There are some plugins upfront is still not compatible with - WooCommerce is still one of those I believe; however, it's working with our MarketPress plugin. There are also some themes out there which can work with Marketpress and upfront nicely.

    I hope this helps you..

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with..

    Warmest Regards,
    Milan..
