Uptime: Reports site down when Optima Express IDX plugin is active

My site is reported as down both Hub’s Uptime tab and Hummingbird Uptime.

First I thought that the issue was caused by Defender because when having all plugins active on the site and only deactivating Defender the issue wasn’t there, but after running a plugin conflict test on the site I’ve confirmed that the issue is also related to having Optima Express IDX plugin active.

I need this plugin on the site because it's what allows the clients to show their real estate properties and searches on the website and also I have other sites that have this plugin installed too and would like to add Hummingbird and Defender to them, so if you can find a fix it would help me to not have the same problem with them.

    Hello steve_haase

I hope you are well today.

Taking a look at your site, I'm seeing that the page load time is > 30 seconds. This is due to the very large number of image assets the Optima Express IDX plugin is loading.

    See Screenshot: http://storage3.static.itmages.com/i/18/0428/h_1524904744_2319343_719078bdea.png

When Uptime tries to connect to your site, if the page load time is > 30 seconds, then an alert will be triggered as it's very uncommon for most websites to take this long to fully respond and is usually indicative of issues.

Checking your site, I see that you're not using any performance plugins like Hummingbird https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/wp-hummingbird/ Using Hummingbird can significantly improve page load performance through Gzip compression, Browser Caching, Full Page Caching and asset minification and relocation. Such a tool is very powerful though and should be configured carefully. Fortunately, we've put together some very good documentation on how to do just that!

    Please see: https://premium.wpmudev.org/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/hummingbird/

I recommend you take a look through the Hummingbird documentation and give it a try. You should see a significant improvement in page load times which will not only resolve the Uptime false positives, but will overall improve the performance and usability of your site for visitors.

Let us know if you have any further questions. We'll be happy to help!

    Best regards,

    James Morris
