User Registeration/Proper Plugin Management

i am currently on the verge of creating something similar to shopify .com with wordpress multisite,marketpress plugin and other juicy plugins from WPMUDEV (u guys are awsome! thank you for coming into existence).

1. I am trying to build my login/registeration page : http://africaretails.com/signup/ to look similar to this http://edublogs.org/signup/ (not design wise, but every other thing) but all efforts to achieve that has been abortive, i can barely edit the wordpress meta data that handles the user signups. So please a little help in achieving edublog's signup and front end ajax login. NB: I used gravity form to achieve this registeration form i created

2. There are certain plugins that i, the super admin would like to use and wouldn't want it appearing anywhere on other blogs on the site (strictly for the super admin). Example is gravity form. i network activated my gravity form and it's also visible on other site on the network, but i meant for it to be used by the super admins only. Please do you have any plugin developed to restrict certain plugins for showing up on other blogs on the network? (tried several plugins on wordpress plugin repository, but nonof them worked)

3. For the pro site plugin: many credit card merchants have refused to accept businesses from my country, so i was wondering if there can be added another form of payment (maybe bank payment with teller verification, or any other method your genius minds can think of without credit card payment), plus can there be a way to add custom payment methods?

4. Regarding Marketpress plugin inline with question 3 above, is there a way to add custom payment methods, so site owners can receive payments easily for good bought on their site, if there is, please instruct on how to go about adding custome payment methods. Thank you.

Kind Regards.

    Hey there.

    1. Which aspects are you looking for?

    Is it like the language:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/select-language-at-signup/

    Or the TOS:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/terms-of-service/

    Or something else?

    2. Sure, you could try Pro Sites:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/pro-sites

    You can create levels and restrict plugins per level, you can even charge if you wish.

    3. You would have to code something custom up for a gate way unfortunately.

    Or you could use the manual gateway and instruct them how to make a payment, but that is a more manual process for you.

    4. The same as Pro Sites really, you can custom code a gateway to your liking. But that would be something you need to do.

    MarketPress does have a number of gateways though, are none of use?

    Take care.

    Thank you very much for your response sir.
    I am looking into all the plugins associated with signups.
    Refering to number 1 question above: on Edublog signup page, the noticeable plugins there are : agree with terms of service(TOC), blog type, select language at signup.
    What i want to achieve is to be able to setup my signup page exactly the way it is on edublog.com (laying everything the way they are exactly on edublog page). Plus, i don't even know how to setup the signup page. Please help asap. Thanks

  • Mark Wallace

    Hello jamalRobert

    It is good to meet you!

    Did you try the links @Timothy suggested above? If you go to those links and read about the plugins there.

    Once you install them, and start working with them you will have more questions, and be farther along in you project.

    This will give you more specific questions to ask, like how can i change this color, or how can make this link, etc...

    So give those plugins a test and come back with more question. Your web site will be up and running before you know it! :slight_smile:

    Nice meeting you jamalRobert!

  • Mark Wallace

    For your sign up page, place the Gravity Form in a single column page template. This will remove the side bar. You will need to create all the settings for the sign up page layout in Gforms!

    You can use the ultimate branding plugin to edit the Log in Meta.
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/ultimate-branding/
    Please be sure to read the details and usage tabs.

    You may also want to consider "Theme my log in plugin"
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-my-login/

    You probably also want the Custom Admin Bar
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/custom-admin-bar/
    Please read the details, usage tabs, and video for this one

    Go ahead and try these things out while i go through your question more thoroughly.

    Thank You jamal!

  • Mark Wallace

    3. For the pro site plugin: many credit card merchants have refused to accept businesses from my country, so i was wondering if there can be added another form of payment (maybe bank payment with teller verification, or any other method your genius minds can think of without credit card payment), plus can there be a way to add custom payment methods?

    This one will be hard to overcome. When banks want to close the EFTPOS technology on a groups or country it become very difficult to work around, and will usually involve a investigation by the US Secret Service if try and work around it.

    So you will want to be very sure that you are not dealing "in or with" any people who are involved in "Black Market" style trade. You will become responsible for everything as the owner of the website.

    If you have a friend or family member in another country, you can set up a PayPal or other payment gateway via their address! It becoming increasingly difficult to open these account as the US Government is trying to track down people using Virtual accounts to hide money.

    What country are you from and i will see what option are available? "Nigeria"???

  • jamalRobert

    MTB1701 Thank you very much for your response. Yes i am from Nigeria. Sooo were you able to come up with other options?

    PS: I dont like the fact that i am using gravity form for my signup. It doesnt help me implement the wpmudev plugins associated with multisite signups.

    Please let me better explain what my problem really is.
    Here is my site home page http://africaretails.com (i have removed the holding page). I am currently trying to build my signup and registration page for users to signup a new blog, but then i encountered a major problem.
    When accessing africaretails.com/wp-signup.php for a new user to register a new blog/site, the signup form uses the home page-template (which i totally dont want), and messes up everything.(messes up the footer formating as well as the whole page formating). Please is there a way you can help me resolve this so everything (after the menu) gets stripped off leaving just the signup form.

    Secondly, edublogs.com/signup looks very simple and straight to the point while implementing the following plugins: agree with terms of service(TOC), blog type, select language at signup, set password, no email required.
    On their signup page, you dont have to click on next to complete signup.
    Please how do i achieve this on my own site.

    Plus how were they able to change signup page from .../wp-signup.php to .../signup
    while using the normal wordpress signup template

    Please this is very important and critical for my on going project, please i need your help.

    Thanks.

  • Timothy Bowers

    Well I'm sorry you found my original response unhelpful.

    As the Edublogs form is rather custom now, it would be worth you hiring a developer to assist you further with this.

    A customisation service isn't what we offer. Sorry.

    Maybe try Tweaky:

    http://tweaky.com

    Plus how were they able to change signup page from .../wp-signup.php to .../signup
    while using the normal wordpress signup template

    We used a custom page template, then I figure it was some htaccess magic for the url.

    Cheers.

  • jamalRobert

    Mr Timothy , i tagged your previous response unhelpful because you bare answer all the questions asked and you dont read inbetween the line carefully.
    First off , i know you guys don't offer custom work.

    Secondly, i pointed out a major issue that i am having with my signup page, referring to to my website where the problem is http://africaretails.com. You ignored it.

    Please if you can't answer those questions, ask another staff who has answers to them to come help me out. No hard feelings, but i am currently pressed for time here. Thanks.

  • Mark Wallace

    Hi jamal
    You have many questions here!

    So lets divide them up on different threads, this will let people who know bits and pieces of information help you without being overwhelmed, and i will answer what i can here and now! Then help you divide the questions into other threads so many people can help at one time.

    Yes i am from Nigeria. Sooo were you able to come up with other options?

    Nigeria is the hardest to overcome, because it is a "IMF" restriction. All the credit card fraud has cost them a lot of money. :slight_smile: I will not share my opinion about the overwhelming "JOY" i get from the "IMF" suffering loss!

    Your personal solution would be to work something out with a wire service partner like Western Union, or similar company! Usually i would suggest traveling to Morocco and setting up accounts, but there is an attempt to over through the king there, so i do not recommend risking your money there at this time. South Africa would be a good bet if you can travel there. The bad thing is non of this will help your store managers when they open stores. This will be tricky, but tricky means a chance for increased profit. If you can find a way to help them open these same account for them selves, then you have found a gold mine!

    I dont like the fact that i am using gravity form for my signup. It doesnt help me implement the wpmudev plugins associated with multisite signups.

    I love Gforms but i do not use it for sign up pages. I suggest you try the "Theme my log in" plugin. I have seen some beautiful log in and registration pages made with it.
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-my-login/

    Please is there a way you can help me resolve this so everything (after the menu) gets stripped off leaving just the signup form.

    I would not remove the footer, it sometimes has functions in it that would create problems, but it can be hidden using the style.css and matching all the color codes to your background.

    What theme are you using?

    ++++++++++++++++++++

    Post this question on a separate thread by itself!

    ++++++++++++++++++++

    Plus how were they able to change signup page from .../wp-signup.php to .../signup
    while using the normal wordpress signup template

    There is a plugin that changes/hides URL's. Post this question on a separate thread by itself, and someone will remember it!

    I will research more into the funds transfer issue, because it had me very curious for a solution! :slight_smile:

  • jamalRobert

    Thank you very much MTB1701 , you are God sent.
    quite a sense of humor you've got there
    I'd be really glad if you get successful with the funds transfer issue. and also thank you for willing to help out.

    Please can you show me a signup page that has been done with "theme my login" plus does it work for multisite .../wp-signup.php templates?

    I use a theme called Dejavu from a theme company called my site my way.
    I just want the signup page to appear like it would on twenty twelve default theme, without distorting the footer, also without the presence of the slider and other things on the home page.
    I was wondering if there is a way i can copy that template and strip out all the unecessary stuff.

    I'll post other questions on other thread as advised. Thanks a bunch.

  • Mark Wallace

    Hi Jamal!

    Yes he has a way of sending places that is for sure, but that is why we are allowed to walk and breath! :slight_smile:

    The one thing you have to understand is this type of customization is either going to have to be done by you. "So much study. reading, testing, and searching will be needed"
    Or
    you will need to hire a developer.

    Here are some plugins that will help you along the way.
    http://www.s2member.com you will want the pro version. It will help with all your log in and sign-up/registration needs, it even has a custom template to get you started.
    I usually do not refer them because of their developer licence policy. It makes you pay to be a sales man, kinda of silly to me!

    Please can you show me a signup page that has been done with "theme my login" plus does it work for multisite .../wp-signup.php templates?

    http://myhome123.com.tw was a simple theme my login using the Frame/Grid market theme
    http://www.ladykin.tw not a simple but nice.
    Both of these were done by another member and friend MD.
    Both of these are in Traditional Chinese so you will need to use Chrome to translate them.

    Does it work for MultiSite, good question, that will be some of the reading and study that you will need to do!

    I use a theme called Dejavu from a theme company called my site my way.

    This becomes difficult to help with, because few people have access to other people premium themes. I personaly have resorted only to the twenty-eleven them for all my personal projects, although i am attracted to the Frame/Gride Market theme here, and Moha give such quick responses and fixes.

    You can see some on going work i have been testing on http://mtb1701.com I plan on removing the button and adding in the ipod screw drop down menu suggested to me by another member. And using the button as a EASY navigation option, or second choice.

    You can look at the twenty eleven theme there and get an idea of themes can be changed using the styles.css. All i have learned from WPMU dev forums and google searches. Timothy has been a huge help to me. I am sorry you too have not hit it off very well, I think his feelings was hurt by the "unhelpfull" mark.

    I just want the signup page to appear like it would on twenty twelve default theme, without distorting the footer, also without the presence of the slider and other things on the home page.
    I was wondering if there is a way i can copy that template and strip out all the unecessary stuff.

    I am not familiar with the Dejavu theme, but if you look for the single column template it will take away all the things you do not want to show. You should contact them and ask about these theme changes.

    Thanks jamal

    Oh and the best solution so far is to use virtual credit cards. If you could tell me what countries you will be marketing for both store managers and customer it will help me find a solution! :slight_smile:

  • Timothy Bowers

    Please if you can't answer those questions, ask another staff who has answers to them to come help me out. No hard feelings, but i am currently pressed for time here. Thanks.

    It's not that I can't answer them, it's that they are more than simple customisations.

    The plugins used are as follows:

    Antisplog - This is the "Human verification" box:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/anti-splog

    Language on signup:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/select-language-at-signup/

    TOS:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/terms-of-service/

    Blog Type:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/blog-type

    No Email Required:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/remove-email-verification-from-signup/

    Secondly, i pointed out a major issue that i am having with my signup page, referring to to my website where the problem is http://africaretails.com. You ignored it.

    No I never ignored it, perhaps I missed it in your long post?

    If we can break those questions up into unique threads (except when they relate closely like 3 & 4).

    When dealing with hundreds of threads, emails and other tasks daily when reading through threads to provide an initial helpful response sometimes things get missed. My apologies for that, it certainly wasn't intentional.

    You need to speak with the themes developer, it looks like it could be how the theme was coded up.

    It's always difficult to support work by other developers but we try.

    I use a theme called Dejavu from a theme company called my site my way.

    A link please?

    And this is premium right?

    If so then I might not have access to it.

    Hey Mark @MTB1701 nah I wasn't referring to the marking of posts, most staff don't see who marked what.

    I was just being general in my last post as my original didn't answer all the questions. :slight_smile:

    Thanks for the kind comments as well.

    Take care.

  • Mark Wallace

    @Timothy

    Thank you for all those links, that will make this a valuable thread in the future. :slight_smile:

    And i also know that even if your feelings were hurt you would still provide the best support possible.

    I was rude to you early on, and now consider you a friend! :slight_smile:

    Everyone on this thread is Kind and Polite, we are all just under a lot of stress! lol

    Thanks Again Tim!

    Hi jamal

    as you can see Tim is not ignoring you, he just needs to manage his time for all help request. Similar to food line during famine and war, there is only so much that can be done at anyone time so everyone does the best they can, and i can assure you that Tim has no hard feelings either!

    I am looking into option for the Payments, it will take time because the focus is more about how your store managers collect money from the customers. I hoping to find you an affiliate type resource to offer these virtual credit cards to managers and customers alike. :slight_smile:

    Thanks Jamal

  • Mark Wallace

    Don't give up so quickly. You are following a dream, Not everyone gets to do that.

    Please try these plugins that he sent you. I know it is overwhelming, but you can achieve much of this on your own with a little courage.

    Maybe take a rest and refresh your mind.

    Then try each plugin one at a time. Work it as far as you can, then ask what you cannot figure out.

    Then move on to the next plugin while you wait for the answer.

    It is like being lost in the wilderness, one step after another, keep moving, and survive. Give up and die of thirst.

    You can do!

  • Timothy Bowers

    What link was it you wanted me to send?

    To the theme, if it's one I can download then I can take a quick look. If it's something quick to fix then I should be able to help. :slight_smile:

    Sorry if i was a lil too harsh in my previous comment to you.

    Nah you were not harsh, I've had much worse :slight_smile:

    The thing with written words on the web is that often they can be misconstrued. As Mark mentioned above his first encounter here was with me and he's not afraid to admit that he was rather harsh and now as you see that was turned around into a much more enjoyable experience. :slight_smile:

    If I can help then I will. If its something which takes a considerable amount of time to code up then its when we refer people to a custom job.

    Take care.

  • Mark Wallace

    There are many! Many Many Many lol Much reading! You focus on the plugins and give me a few days to let my girls figure this one out.

    We are very interested in this as well! I am glad to have ran across this! :slight_smile:

  • Timothy Bowers

    OK so here are the lines affecting this:

    framework.php

    There are three lines:

    add_action( 'mysite_after_header', 'mysite_slider_module' );
    add_action( 'mysite_after_header', 'mysite_teaser' );
    add_action( 'mysite_before_page_content', 'mysite_home_content' );

    Those three are what force the header.

    Commenting them out would remove them for the whole theme. Not what you want I guess.

    So you could do this:

    if ( !in_array( $GLOBALS['pagenow'], array( 'wp-signup.php' ) ) ) {
    	add_action( 'mysite_after_header', 'mysite_slider_module' );
    	add_action( 'mysite_after_header', 'mysite_teaser' );
    	add_action( 'mysite_before_page_content', 'mysite_home_content' );
    }

    That basically says if the page isn't wp-signup.php then add those but if it is then skip it.

    There is a slight issue with formatting in the footer still. That can be adjusted with CSS. There are a number of things affecting that.

    If you don't mind having the footer not included then a quick fix would be to remove:

    add_action( 'mysite_footer', 'mysite_main_footer' );

    And then include it in the other code I provided like so:

    if ( !in_array( $GLOBALS['pagenow'], array( 'wp-signup.php' ) ) ) {
    	add_action( 'mysite_after_header', 'mysite_slider_module' );
    	add_action( 'mysite_after_header', 'mysite_teaser' );
    	add_action( 'mysite_before_page_content', 'mysite_home_content' );
            add_action( 'mysite_footer', 'mysite_main_footer' );
    }

    That would make it look better.

    Of course you could go into those actions/functions and make changes so it works a lot better, but that would be more time consuming and require a developer to be hired.

    The code I provided is a real quick fix for this, you could also ask the themes developer to correct this behaviour. :slight_smile:

    Take care.

  • jamalRobert

    Thanks alot Timothy, God Bless you.

    I did as you suggested, it worked but the problem now is that, when i viewed the main site home page, i realised the dissapeared to the middle of the page.

    I was also wondering if you have a function that adds stuff: like on the signup page, the site logo isn't visible, and the sidebar isn't visible aswell. Is there anyway these can be added?

    Thanks alot sir, i really appreciate your support here

  • Timothy Bowers

    Odd I tried on mine and it works fine on my install. I've included a screenshot of my sandbox install so you can see.

    My Sandbox install changes constantly as I use it whilst testing issues for members but you're more than welcome to take a quick look. Just letting ya know in case it changes before you look.

    Perhaps it might be better if I take a quick look for you?

    If that's cool then send through our contact form the following:

    + Mark to my attention.
    + Link back to this thread.
    + Include FTP
    + Include full admin/network access

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/

    I can then take a close look to see why it didn't work for you. :slight_smile:

    Take care.

    Hi Jamal

    The Virtual Credit card will take more time, It appears that they were created especially to deal with the Nigeria Credit Card fraud issue.

    So naturally the same fraudster, have created bogus Virtual Credit Card companies.

    We have a project we are working on to create jobs her in the US, and deal with online auction and classifieds fraud that may help you!

    We have not come to an agreement wither to share this information before we set it up ourselves. We will be discussing it further on the 1st of October, and take a final vote then. There are 7 of us and everyone must cast a vote, so there will be an answer on the 1st.

    Other options:

    1. C.O.D. <<Not really common anymore here in the states, but is still an option if the company "Your Store managers" are willing to use it!

    2. Find a way to use something like cube points, be sure to check your local laws; here in the states if we try to create another form of currency we get impressionism for tax law violations.

    3. Contact Western Union, and see if you can open a branch in your office, and redirect sales from all Nigerian Stores to your Western Union office, and dispense it to your managers once shipping is complete. This is a lot of work, but it does increase your revenue, and give you a real world product to offer to your community.

    4. If you have the resources you can warehouse the Nigerian Merchants goods / products, and take care of all the sales and shipping yourself. You would have to start small, and spread physical location throughout Nigeria. You can look into Micro Loans to help you get started.
    http://www.mixmarket.org/mfi/country/Nigeria?gclid=CObbtpO5u7ICFQgGnQodxzYAcw

    We are looking into "modifying" another option we used to get money to families in "freedom town sierra leone" about 8+ years ago, but it just don't fit your needs at the moment, plus i think laws have been created here in the state to prevent that. So it will take more research.

    Please understand I cannot advise you in anything that violates International Law!

    This is going to be very tricky. I suggest contacting a "Non" Nigerian bank to accomplish this.

    If i "Being a US Citizen" try and contact a bank about Nigerian accounts i will be put on the Terror watch list for 12 months, and that makes it really hard to get any grants, loans, permits, or other resources needed to build our business!

    Also look around you for mentors "People who are operating online business" in Nigeria. They will have real world experience and be able to advise you.

    Then Please share the information!

    Since this is your thread I not think you mind me mentioning this???

    There are products in Nigeria we are interested in! In accordance with the (NEEP) Program! Mostly Cashew Nuts, Coffee if available, and Precious Stones.

    I should State we are interested in buying the land to produce these exports as well!

    If you don't mind i would like to move the Non WordPress topics to MTB1701 (at) yahoo (dot) com

    Very Glad to have met you jamal! Be Blessed!

  • jamalRobert

    Thanks Tim, I see that the page's been fixed-Good work. But the logo still didn't show up on the signup page even after you've altered the css.

    Well done Tim. Thanks for all the help, i really appreciate.
    ...................................................................................................

    Thanks alot for the long list info MTB1701, i'd research on western union. And i'd be in touch by email. Thanks again. Cheers.

Thank NAME, for their help.

Let NAME know exactly why they deserved these points.

Gift a custom amount of points.
