Website down unexpectedly.

Website down, don't know why - according to Uptime Monitor, it is a socket time out. Could this be hosting related, or...?

    Hi Cornelius

    How are you today?

    Uptime monitor gets the Response Time from the site, once it take too long the uptime monitor understands that the site is down, in this case the site might not be down, but taking to long to have the fist get, however there are other facts that can be causing this report. It can be caused by the host or other problem. We can investigate this running some tests.

    Wouldn't you mind please, by the FTP access, access the WordPress root folder > wp-config.php, search for the line: /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ and above it, paste the code:

    // Turn debugging on
    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

    // Tell WordPress to log everything to /wp-content/debug.log
    define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);

    // Turn off the display of error messages on your site
    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

    // For good measure, you can also add the follow code, which will hide errors from being displayed on-screen
    @ini_set('display_errors', 0);

    You can find more about debug mode on this article: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/debugging-wordpress-how-to-use-wp_debug/

    I'm afraid that you will need the next report of uptime monitor, once it reports that the site is down, back to the WordPress root folder / wp-content search for any debug.log, change to debug.txt and upload on the reply.

    This we can check if any plugin is causing this problem.
    Let me know the results,
    Best Regards,
