Ouch, that is slow. Try adding this to your .htaccess file.

    # GZip Compression
    <IfModule mod_deflate.c>
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/css
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/javascript
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/xml
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/plain
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE image/x-icon
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE image/svg+xml
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/rss+xml
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/javascript
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-javascript
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/xml
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/xhtml+xml
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-font
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-font-truetype

      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE font/otf
      AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE font/opentype

    Howdy @Jesse McConnell

Wow you timed my shift perfectly ! Ha ha ...

I just did some tests here my self

    https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

While the server response itself was a bit slow ( You need to change hosts to fix this ).

Here are two quick suggestions that will give a considerable boost.

    https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/EnableCompression
    https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/LeverageBrowserCaching

Both are unbelievably simple to do yet will give you a good boost for the efforts involved. Let me know if that helps

    Cheers
    Jude
