We've recently received error messages for IPN URLs when using payment connected to the Events+ plugin. Does the Events+ plugin automatically handle the IPN URL definition to send to Paypal, the setup of the listening URL and the IPN confirmation back to paypal? Are there any recent Paypal updates or Events+ updates that could be affecting us?

    Joe,

Thanks for helping me clarify. Yes, the correct topic is Events+.

The question is: We assume that the Events+ plugin follows the Paypal specifications for IPN communication, ie transaction is completed, Paypal sends an IPN message, the Events+ IPN listener receives the message, then sends an acknowledge message back to Paypal. Do you know if this is handled by default with the plugin?

We are receiving error messages from Paypal about IPN messages not being delivered, and trying to determine where the problem is... at this point could be paypal, could be spam controls we implemented preventing IPN delivery, could be the Events+ plugin not receiving, could be Events+ not acknowledging, or ??

Any insight on the default processing for Events+ with Paypal is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Greg

    Greetings Greg,

Thank you for the additional input and the clarifications which are absolutely appreciated.

This is all true with the following exception being the last part of the assumption here then sends an acknowledge message back to Paypal, PayPal does not get an acknowledgement back - on its send of the IPN it checks then at that very moment if it is received or not giving the normal server error code if not and giving the 200 OK if it went through fine and the receiver accepted. These are regular server status codes, no magic there.

On the PayPal side there may be some clues as to the issue i.e. IPN History --> check to see what the URL's and the codes are within including the error messages.

Here is some more insight into this issue:

As you probably noticed in the link above and as I have also mentioned in previous posts, the Bad Behavior plugin for example that causes the blocking of PayPal IPN's

At this point if the IPN's are still being blocked and indeed being sent, then the only option left is to reverse what has been done post IPN working and move forward from there.

Let us know how it goes.

    Cheers, Joe
