What are the best permissions to give users to control their own posts and pages?

On one of the children sites of a multisite, I want subscriber level members to have the ability to manage their own wordpress posts and pages. Regular posts and pages. This is a funky community wordpress, but only for members that have registered on my main site.
I know for many plugins the custom types you can set users to create, delete and publish their own private and public posts. I'm using user role editor and not sure exactly the right combination of the attached permissions to only let them manage their own. Would you please let me know the right ones to let people add/edit/private/publish their own posts and pages? I'm worried that giving some of the permissions such as edit/delete private/published, etc. will give them access to others' and just want to make sure and get your expert advice please.
thank you!
