Which combination of plugins to choose?

Hi, some days ago I just bought one plugin (Google Maps) here. In the meanwhile I understand Your excellent service concept and think of starting a encompassing membership. That's why I checked all Your plugins. For a (planned membership) site I want allow users to register. Our system runs on WP Multisite (3.5.1). Now I'm searching for the best combination of plugins here following these prerequisites:

(1)
Users could register themselves, the process must be approved by the site's admin (e.g. the new user gets a confirmation eMail with password and activation link, if accepted)
(2)
The windows / pages / screens for login, register and "password lost" should be individualized, i.e. "branded" with our logo, individualized messages, redirect to the site from which a user logs in / registers (or to a custom page.
(3)
"Nice" commenting (individualized - branded)
(4)
"Social activities": social login (Facebook, Twitter), social share, social commenting
(5)
General:
Widgetized (if possible or with short code) and secure solution, i.e. secure login, register and commenting / spam - splog protection.

Can You please recommend me a combination of plugins (or a mega plugin ) that meet the conditions required?

Thank You very much, greetings from Germany

Mats

A good start for what you want would be Membership to control your signups and membership handling. As for the administrative-approval requirement, I'm not sure any of WPMU DEV's plugins natively support that. Hopefully someone else will know of a possible solution for that requirement.

For the customization you want on the various pages, you'll want to use Ultimate Branding and a bit of CSS tweaking.

For the commenting, I'm not entirely sure what your goal is. You may wish to look at Jetpack's commenting enhancements (free plugin from the developers of WordPress).

For spam comment protection, you'll want to use Akismet (free plugin from the developers of WordPress) and for splog protection you'll want to use Anti-Splog.

For the social login options, you could get the Facebook integration working using Ultimate Facebook. I'm uncertain as to which plugin you'd want to use to get Twitter integration working, but I'm sure someone else will be able to provide some help on that front.

Would you mind elaborating a bit on what you mean by "secure" login and such? If you mean SSL, then that's something that is handled mostly outside of plugins and such. There is a tutorial from WordPress on how to handle logins and such using SSL.

    Viele Grüße aus Kalifornien.

Thank You very much, that helps . 'Also tried some other plugins from Wordpress.org and Codecanyon (WP Post Comments, Twitter Connect, Facebook Connect ...) for commenting and social network integration, but I'm al bit afraid of mixing all together, so 'thought could be a good idea to use plugins from (almost) one source, because the work together or problems would be solved.

With "secure" login I (only) meant procedures to protect spam registrations and login abuse, thank You for the information concerning SSL. So, for spam protection in general Akismet is Your choice? I heard of problems with privacy policies (IP), that's a point because we're located in Germany where everything is ruled by law .

Incidentally, I am aware of the stricter privacy laws in Germany vis-à-vis the US. (Of course, I'm in California which does have a constitutional right to privacy, so it's somewhat comparable.) I remember hearing about some supposed exploits in Akismet, but I believe they were baseless (see: http://blog.akismet.com/2012/07/18/erroneous-claims-of-vulnerabilities-in-the-akismet-plugin/).

For preventing spam comments, Akismet should suffice; for preventing spam blog registration, Anti-Splog is an excellent option (really, the best option); and for preventing login abuse, I would recommend: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/limit-login-attempts/ (this plugin is used by WP Engine on all of their installs).

The plugin recommendations I made should get you most of the way to what it seems you want to accomplish. As for the social integration, I would probably ask some of the other members here. I've personally spent a minimal amount of time dealing with social login integration (and I'm less than fond of Facebook's API), so I'm probably not the best person to help with that sort of setup.

Thank NAME, for their help.

Let NAME know exactly why they deserved these points.

Gift a custom amount of points.
