Which permalink is better?

What is the best or recommended permalink structure, post name or day and post name? (by the way, my site has 3 years using day and post name permalinks)

I use /year/month/postname. It provides temporal context, without bogging it down too much. For instance, when I am searching for stuff, I look at the URL of the pages I find in yhe search results. If I am looling for info on a new feature of WordPress, I am going to skip over content from 2011. If I am lookong for a movie review, I will only read stuff fron the last month.

But that is me. The big answer to your question is, how will it help your site visitors, and will it last "forever" (in quotes because forever can happen with redirects and such)? The pattern I use will probably work for you. ^_^

Maiki, has some great thoughts above. There's no performance reason within WordPress to prefer one over another. One thing to think about is that if you change your permailnks any site that links to your old URLs will fail.

Otherwise, I always go with what is most readable for the visitors. Thanks.
