WHMCS integration

Hi
I want to use a custom template I am already using in WHMCS and I see in your readme it says;-

7. At your WHMCS site you must have the WHMCS Template in Setup | General set to Portal.

Is there a workaround for this ?

    Greetings Des,

Thank you for the great question.

Yes there is somewhat of a work around and the adjustments that need to be made vary from theme to theme.

Here is what Arnold said previously regarding this issue:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/nothing-is-showing-up#post-204217

At the time he said it was a tentative list and perhaps we can get a more up to date list from him.

Therefore I will see if I can get the lead developer Arnold in here with his invaluable insight into this plugin for his advice/advise for us.

Though this may take a bit longer then a normal ticket, I will try to get him in here asap.

    Cheers, Joe

    Hi Joe
thanks to both yourself and Arnold for the responses. I am continuing to research this and see in the thread from Tim Griffin http://goo.gl/6XtRK that a workaround would involve a cookie which is not desirable, neither is reverting back to the portal theme. This is frustrating if one spends time developing a custom template or buys and mods a template.

I suppose there are two problems here;-
    1. code inconsistencies - it would appear then that the base templates from WHMCS are not consistent in how they will perform
    2. fragmentation - with each plug-in add-on one has to start hacking the code of the hacked code to achieve the desired result. This may be able to be justified except when somebody somewhere upgrades and/or new stuff comes on, for example the domain pro beta just out from OpenSRS. In other words this is not a viable option since upgrades will / may render the customisation useless.

Sadly chaps this then makes your seemingly excellent add-on no longer as attractive for me since it does not make sense in this modular approach to go back to the old way of having to hack it all to make it work. I am happy to buy modules from anybody anywhere buy I just want to plug them in and see them work otherwise it renders the entire ecosphere worthless. :slight_frown:

    Greetings Des,

Thank you for sharing that with us which is appreciated.

You are absolutely correct that the code inconsistencies - it would appear then that the base templates from WHMCS are not consistent in how they will perform is an ongoing issue that is unlikely to ever be resolved.

I am happy to buy modules from anybody anywhere buy I just want to plug them in and see them work - this my friend I have got to see. I have yet to see any higher results plugin work in this manner anywhere without some configuration and even they are subject to conflicts with themes and other plugins.

It would certainly be nice that's for sure.

Thank you again for your comments and for being a WPMU DEV Community Member!

    Cheers, Joe

    Hi Joe
I thought about this and because of the excellent support and documentation I can see here I have started on a new build using the plain WHMCS portal theme combined with your Wpmudev modules and plugins and using one of your Wordpress themes and really so far it is completely painless.

You can see it at http://www.rexco.it - it is just the shell but I will be adding other Wpmudev elements as the week progresses

I am very grateful for the helpful support and straight answers from yourself and Arnold.

    Regards
    Des
