Why does Snapshot store backups locally sometimes

Sometimes I create a manual Managed Backup and usually it stores it remotely. But sometimes it will say (local) indicating it's stored locally only. Why does Snapshot store backup locally sometimes?

Also, is there a way for Snapshot to auto delete old LOCAL backups?

Lastly, when viewing The Hub for this domain the little backup icon is gray instead of green. What does gray indicate.

    Hello Robert,

I hope you are well today.

Sometimes I create a manual Managed Backup and usually it stores it remotely. But sometimes it will say (local) indicating it's stored locally only. Why does Snapshot store backup locally sometimes?

Snapshot Pro is, basically, 2 backup plugins in one. There's the Standard (local) backups and the Managed Backups. The only way you she local backups stored is if you see backups configured at Admin -> Snapshot -> All Snapshots. Managed Snapshots will be listed at Admin -> Snapshot -> Managed Backups.

Also, is there a way for Snapshot to auto delete old LOCAL backups?

This should be done automatically depending on your settings for each Snapshot type.

In Admin -> Snapshot -> All Snapshots, if you click the edit link for any local backup, you will see the option Maximum number of local archives for the local backup retention.

In Admin -> Snapshot -> Managed Backups you will see the option for Keep this many remote backups in the right sidebar.

Lastly, when viewing The Hub for this domain the little backup icon is gray instead of green. What does gray indicate.

The gray icon indicates our servers did not detect Snapshot as being enabled on your domain. If you're certain it is, then there may be a communication issue between your server and our own.

Would you please upload the following file to the root of your website and execute it to (like http://yourdomain.com/curltest.php). This will test your site's communication with both our servers and google.com. If there is a communication issue, it will show a notice on the page.

Also, it would be helpful to take a look at your site and see if we can spot an issue that is causing your problems. Would you please grant me access to your site?

You can learn how to grant WPMU DEV Support Access at the following link:

Please reply back here once you've enabled access so I will be notified.

    Best regards,
