WordPress Multisite with subdirectories - why did it add a bunch of numbers? e.g. mysitename10774940

I signed up on my new Multisite with Facebook (using the Ultimate Facebook plugin) and entered "e" for my blog URL. Now it's showing me "e1077494009" as my blog URL! ( nomjoy.com/e1077494009 )

How do I make it just nomjoy.com/e ?

    Hi @Elliot

By default, WordPress requires that usernames and blognames be at least 4 characters in length. If they're not, you get all those randomly generated numbers so there's no conflict with existing blognames, or other sub-directories including pages.

There is a plugin that allows you to reduce the minimum number of characters, but it hasn't been updated in a while: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tukod-multisite-site-names/installation/

There may be others that I'm not aware of; a search of the WordPress plugin repository might turn up a few.

Hope this helps! And thanks for being a member
