WP smush loading in background

It looks like the smush plugin is running in front end and backend even when no photos are uploaded (see screenshot). Could you please check this?

    Hello Brian Ho,

I hope you're well today and thank you for your question!

We got that consulted with our developers and that isn't anything you should worry about. The screenshot (that comes from New Relic tools) is only showing that there were external API calls made but it's not saying that anything is actually happening in background all the time.

It's a a brief summary of what had happened and only states that Smush did contact "smushpro.wpmudev.org" host (it's API host) and that of all external calls made (including other like ones from e.g. app.wigzo.com) it took 54% of all the time taken by all the calls.

That's actually expected because Smush calls are time consuming (sending and fetching big amounts of data - image files). However, it doesn't mean that Smush is running all the time or slowing down the site.

Also, Smush doesn't trigger any cron tasks in background.

    Kind regards,
    Adam
