[WP Smush Pro] Question about resize notifications from Smush Pro

I have the "Detect and show incorrectly sized images" activated on my website. Clicking on the yellow information icon displays 15-30 issues on almost every page. About 90% of them are indicating assorted nonsense things like "640×480 should be resized to 0x0" and "0x0 should be resized to 401×360" etc., etc. Any idea what's going on here?

    Hi lbartley,

Hope you are doing good today.

What “Detect and show incorrectly sized images” option does is it’ll check the actual container width, and compare it to the image that’s loaded in your website, and list out images which is loading bigger than the size of content width.

However, please do note that, it’s more of an informative option, and is meant as an advanced feature for members if they are looking to register custom image size to fix such notices, either by dynamically via add_image_size function:

    https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/add_image_size/

Or manually resizing the image as mentioned in this link:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/compress-resize-images-wordpress/

However, enabling Smush CDN, and enabling “Automatic Resizing” option in Smush CDN section should be enough to resolve image re-size issues, but it would still show the same messages seen when “Detect and show incorrectly sized images” option is enabled, this is something we’ll be improving in the UI side in future to be much clear more members.

You can keep the “Detect and show incorrectly sized images” disabled, if all the images are already optimized.

If you still have issues regarding this, then please enable support access to your website, so that we could give a closer look. You can grant access from WPMU DEV > Support > Support Access > Grant Access, or check this manual: https://premium.wpmudev.org/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-5

Please let us know once you enable access, so that we could get this sorted. Have a nice day.

    Kind Regards,

    Nithin
