WPMU Issue #2 (Possible OT): Template and Plugin Upload Error

This may be a long shot but I figure I'd give it a shot before starting from scratch with a new theme.
It's unclear as to what templates will run under WPMU so my initial assumption is that if they run under WordPress then they're likely to run under WPMU. Case in point where I have a template I customized called Freshy2, which is located here:

http://www.jide.fr/english/freshy-2-and-customize-updated-for-wordpress-29

I've customized the theme on my test WIMP server and all seems fine, as seen by these two samples:

http://www.nusolutions.biz/demos/haiti/d2/

This particular theme comes with a separate plugin which controls the customization settings. After uploading the theme and plugin to my live WPMU site hosted at GoDaddy I get the following error when activating the "customization" plugin:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home/content/k/g/m/haiti/html/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 969

I've posted a message to the author's website and the WordPress forums but no response. So I figured I try here to see if I can get some direction on troubleshooting the error.

Any responses appreciated.

I managed to get around it by using a custom stylesheet. The problem now is that when activating the theme on one of the subdomains the settings don't "stick" so I end up with the default look for the subdomain and my customized look at the parent. I can't figure out how to have the settings from the parent transfer to the other themes. This issue is only with the Freshy2 theme, most of the other themes I've tried works well. The problem is that they're a little older so I don't know how they'll do in later releases and updates.

    Thanks

    Hiya,

To be honest, if a theme is giving you that much grief you may want to consider choosing another theme. Unlike paid themes, free themes don't really come with guaranteed support. So issues like this could take forever to get resolved if the theme developer doesn't reply to emails.

    Thanks,
    Andrew
